I know some may think this to be a very silly question and also simply a matter of personal preference, but here goes anyway. Is a 2 ct round diamond too large for a full bezel pendant? Would it look too bulky, heavy, too much? I"m considering BGD Barbara like soooo many have raved about on PS. Thanks for your comments and opinions.

No, it's not too big at all! I've been playing with the idea of getting a pendant of about 2-2.5ct myself!

But I wouldn't get it bezelled. A 2ct pendant can definitely hold its own.

think you''re asking the wrong crowd

Hi vabaz
I had a customer with a 2ct. that had a very difficult time making a decision about what kind of pendant would look the best for her.
She had an special occasion she wanted to wear it to and that didn''t help the situation in that she was adding more pressure on herself to decide.
I finally set the stone in a very thin platinum bezel and told her to wear it to the event....we could always change it later.
The gamble paid off.... that was 15 years ago and she still loves it.

I think it depends on the size of the person''s diamond e-ring. Normally you would want the e-ring stone to be the largest and pendant and earring stones smaller. And I also would not bezel a 2ct. diamond.

I''d do a 2 carat pendant if I had a spare one laying around!

I think that will be an amazing pendant. In the Barabara it will look huge! how big is your e-ring/earrings/other jewelry your regularly wear?

Personally, i''d put it in a martini setting, but the bezel could look gorgeous, huge, but gorgeous

A 2-ct in a bezel sounds like it''d be REALLY big. Have you tried any similar size well-cut diamond pendants in RL to be sure you''re comfortable with that size?

Phoenix,

That would be a little baby for you...you might as well jump up to a 3-4 carat! You know you want to

gorgeous!! I would absolutely bezel it, in a very thin bezel.

I think once you''re at 2ct it''s going to be a huge pendant no matter what, so the people who will love it martini''d or prong''d will also love it bezelled, and the people who think it''s too big will think it too big regardless. So no point in trying to worry what other people think!

My ering diamond is WF aca 1.76 in a gorgeous BGD 1.34 ct setting - so total a tad over 3. My studs are .45 each. None of this jewelery is bezel set. Brian had suggested the Barbara for the 2 ct stone, but I''m not so sure I want it to be so big and heavy looking. It is a pendant I''d like for every day wear but perhaps the size just makes that impossible. It''s an inherited diamond.

Wow, what a diamond to inheiret!

Ditto! I would make a right-hand-eing from it so I could look at it all the time.

But I would wear it as a bezel pendant for sure, too, why not?

I disagree - I think that system assumes that you either, a) upgrade, or b) remain in some sort of financial stasis for all your life. Given that the e-ring tends to be bought earlier in life with the purely decorative luxury pieces coming later, it only makes sense that there will potentially be some sort of discrepancy.

As for how a bezeled 2 ct. round will look? DELIGHTFUL. I pass a shop with enormous bezeled OEC earrings every day, each around 3.5 carats: the bezels are hair-fine and milgrained, and they look astonishingly beautiful. Add that to the security of the bezel, and I say it's sort of irresistible ....

There's nothing wrong with having a pendant be larger than a eng stone. Some are very sentimental about their eng. stone and would prefer to keep that stone as is and possibly upgrade or set a larger stone for other jewelry pieces.

WOW that is going to be one mahusive pendant!! how often are you planning on wearing it?? I have 0.6 carat solitaire (with no bunny ears) that I wear most days and it still gets lots of comments - although I do live in the UK where that would be considered a very sizeable pendant to own.

I think if its for special occasions then wahey go for it but for everyday wear Im a bit less sure - although like the ladies say if the rest of your jewellery is a good size then why not? (you are very lucky to have so much lovely sparkle)

I''m thinking about getting a BGD Barbara pendant as well, but not a 2 ct stone though (I wish I can inherit something like THAT). I''m thinking about 1.5ct. Would love to see your modelling pic!

BTW, did you upgrade the chain to something thicker, given how big your diamond is?

Sounds like a wonderful dilema.

My only issue would be fear of losing it on the chain, especially if it is a family diamond. I have had a chain break before so I am super aware of it, what sort of chain are you considering??

Not sure if I did this right but if it works, here are the photos of the fiinished beauty!! I did not upgrade the chain-but am considering that possibility. This is a treasured pendant and I couldn''t be happier with BGD help in this project. Enjoy!
