This antique opal and diamond pendant necklace was auctioned at Christie’s Important Jewels sale on June 8, 2011. Made circa 1890, the pendant features a pear-shaped black opal surrounded by old European cut diamonds set in silver and gold. The pendant measures a grand 7cm and is attached to a 37cm long diamond necklace. The opal displays lovely play-of-color and has aged remarkably well. Visit Christie’s to see detail of the opal.
