Christie’s New York to Close 2014 Jewelry Auction Season with $55 Million Sale

A 21.30-carat fancy light pink Golconda diamond will highlight Christie’s New York Magnificent Jewels sale on December 10, 2014.

Christie’s New York is closing its 2014 auction season with a two-session sale that is expected to fetch over $55 million. The Magnificent Jewels auction will be held on December 10 at Christie’s flagship Rockefeller Center saleroom. Highlighting the sale is an array of rare diamonds, including a 21.30-carat fancy light pink Golconda diamond, an 89.23-carat D-color Type IIa diamond, and a suite of colored diamond jewelry weighing over 375 carats by Jahan.

The sale also includes rare colored gemstones, natural pearls, and signed jewels from Boucheron, JAR, Cartier, and Van Cleef & Arpels.

A suite of colored diamond jewelry by Jahan, including a necklace with seven fancy yellow and brown diamonds ranging from 52.30 carats to 11.51 carats, is expected to fetch between $3.5 million and $5 million at Christie’s New York.

An ultra-rare fancy red diamond weighing 1.42 carats is being offered at Christie’s New York with a selling estimate of $1.5 million to $2.5 million. The oval-shaped diamond is the third largest fancy red diamond ever offered at auction, according to Christie’s.
