You already knew this post was coming! I saw Crazy Rich Asians and it was the first time I laughed out loud in a movie for a long time. But I’m not here to recap the movie; I’m here to detail some of my favorite pieces and how you can get the look for less!
Bulgari and Chopard made quite a few appearances along with a few personal jewelry pieces loaned to the movie by Michelle Yeoh. The one item which made us go gaga was Eleanor Young’s (Michelle Yeoh) emerald and diamond ring.
What I loved about Eleanor Young, that she could make mega karats look restrained and not over the top. One instance was when she wore an emerald and diamond ring around the family table. We were sold and were immediately left wondering if we could pull off an emerald ring of that size.
I’m going to fangirl on Michelle Yeoh (again), but she truly had some spectacular pieces that looked absolutely impeccable on her. One set was a pair of diamond and pearl drop earrings. She pulled her hair back, put the earrings on and was the best dressed lady who lunched in all of Singapore.
Shang Su Yi (Lisa Lu) is Nick Young’s (Henry Golding) highly esteemed grandmother. She’s the matriarch of the family and is said to own one of the best personal jewelry collections in the world. Yet, the movie kept most of her jewelry under wraps except for highlighting some exquisite brooches. We think it’s high time we follow her lead and bring brooches back in style!
The jewelry definitely made a successful leap from the book to the movie. I went in a little cautious – because how can one put that much awesomeness into a movie – and left with plans to see the movie and the jewelry again. Now, you too can take your inspiration from the big screen and make it work for you every day!
