If you watched the 2014 Emmy Awards red carpet, you might’ve been a little bored with the jewelry choices. Many jewelry mavens expressed this boredom while live tweeting the red carpet with the hashtag #emmyjewelry. JCK style editor Jennifer Heebner tweeted: “Jewelry people: Who else can afford to buy coverage on red carpet? Same names all the time #lame #emmyjewelry.” To which Fred Leighton replied: “Fred Leighton has never paid. Our friends and relationships speak for themselves. They want to wear us.” And it’s no surprise, as Fred Leighton always delivers vintage glamour on the red carpet, which we adore.
If you look at images in the following blogs and articles in isolation, the jewelry is stunning. But the consistent theme of “same names” can be as tired as the Emmy Awards themselves. We see the same winners over and over, as episodic television shows–once fresh–live on (and win) ad nauseam. We’re looking at you, “Modern Family.”
As jewelry lovers, we just want MORE from the red carpet. We want to see more than gowns styled with trends of the moment–read: ear climbers. And we would also love to see a more diverse array of brands and designers. But hey! It’s just the Emmys. There are more award shows on the horizon.
Enjoy these blogs and articles on last night’s Emmy Awards. Whether you love the product placement on the red carpet–or hate it–we always want to see the jewels. Click on the images or links to take you to the stories.
