Lady Gaga’s Instagram positively exploded when she posted her new heart-shaped diamond engagement ring from actor Taylor Kinney. Kinney proposed to the singer-songwriter on Valentine’s Day with the large diamond that takes betrothal sentiment to the next level–a heart for her heart.

While a shocking number of celebrities wear very classic diamond engagement rings, a standout ring in a unique shape like Gaga’s is sure to start a trend. Heart-shaped diamonds (and jewelry) have been trending for awhile along with other old school shapes like pears and marquise cuts. These shapes are being revived in fresh designs by many designers.
