As you PriceScopers know, we are always excited for awards show season. The gowns, the jewelry the excitement, it’s almost too much to bear! So we practically had a meltdown when we saw Lupita Nyong’o step on the red carpet.

Now, she isn’t a red carpet newbie and is fast becoming a style icon in her own right, so when we say she sent us into a meltdown, you know it means something.

Lupita tapped Donatella Versace to create what we believe will be one of Lupita’s defining fashion moments. Her dress was a black and gold chainmail delight accented with a small Versace clutch, gold hair accessory, blue eyeliner and silver (Yes silver!) earrings.

It’s the minor details and bit of daring that takes this look from cookie cutter to home run. Fortunately, with her turn in the global box office hit, Black Panther, we’ll be presented with plenty of future opportunities to watch her fashion evolution.
