This blog post is focused on March birthstones. March birthstones are made up of aquamarine and bloodstone. Today we’re particularly focusing on aquamarine. Learn everything you need to know about aquamarine, see our favorite red carpet aquamarine jewelry looks, view some famous aquamarine stones, and shop aquamarine jewelry with a special offer for this March 2022 only.
Aquamarine comes in shades of light blue to a greenish teal color and belongs to the beryl family. The majority of consumers prefer a light blue aquamarine instead of a teal green so they are generally heated to remove the green.
Although belonging to the beryl family, aquamarine comes in at an 8 on The Mohs Scale of Mineral Hardness. Which is significantly hard for a gemstone of its kind. Being as hard as what it is, aquamarine is a strong stone to wear. You can wear it in all sorts of jewelry from a ring to a pendant necklace.
Fun Fact: An aquamarine is stronger than an emerald because it doesn’t have as many inclusions. |
The name aquamarine comes from two Latin words: aqua, meaning water, and marine, meaning the sea.
Aquamarines can be found in all parts of the world specifically Africa, the Middle East, Russia, North and South America. The Aquamarine that we usually see on the market comes from Brazil.
Aquamarine is said to make the wearer more intellectual, amiable, and unconquerable. Aquamarine is also said to promote intuition.
Aquamarines are traditional anniversary gifts for the 16th and 19th wedding anniversaries.
