Pairing opals with diamonds can create a small-scale color explosion. These two gemstones come together to make light and color dance. Let’s chat about the look of the two great things that go great together!
Opals and Tourmaline are October’s birthstones, and April’s Diamonds are our favorites, so putting diamonds and opals together is just a natural combo for us.
Opals, with their shifting, mesmerizing play of colors, are a masterpiece of nature. From deep oranges and reds to soothing blues, opals fascinate us with their ever-changing appearance, making each stone a work of art. When it’s October, many people lean into spookiness and magical thinking, and the colors in opals almost seem like magic. Full disclosure, I was inspired by my own little one’s milestone October birthday. She wanted birthstones for her newly pierced ears. Of course, she had 8 pairs of earrings before her appointment, this girl loves her bling!
Diamonds, however, are the standard of beautiful elegance. Their luxurious sparkle and clarity have made diamonds a symbol of everlasting love. Whether in engagement rings, wedding bands, or other beloved jewelry pieces, diamonds are above the crowd in their durability and fabulousness. There is a reason they are the favorite of many PriceScopers!
When these stones join forces, the result is certainly something special. The contrasting characteristics of these gemstones create a harmonious balance that appeals to traditional and modern tastes. It seems like it is storytelling and transporting us into a fantasy. The opal’s play of colors complements the diamond’s clarity, resulting in a stunning visual treat that has brought smiles for generations.
While this pair creates stunning jewelry, it’s essential to care for opals and diamonds to ensure they maintain their beauty. Opals are quite a bit softer than diamonds, so avoiding harsh chemicals or extreme temperatures is wise. Regular cleaning and proper storage will maintain the brilliance of both gemstones. Make sure that your combination piece holds the stones separately. Due to diamonds being a 10 on the Mohs scale and opals being between 5-6, the opals could be damaged by contact with the diamonds. Making sure that they are set in such a way as to not bump, or rub against each other will prevent scratching.
Opals and diamonds create jewelry pieces that are just lovely. This sweet pairing is a timeless choice that stands the test of ever-evolving trends. Embrace their fairy tale color and light, and let your jewelry tell a beautiful tale. October’s birthstone is pretty outstanding, as is April’s birthstone! It’s another great choice to add to your collection.
