Every New Year leads to a load of well-meaning resolutions that are often abandoned before March. It makes sense though that the New Year presents a chance for new beginnings. I know that everyone hopes that 2022 is a better year than the last two, and it includes the perhaps lucky 2/2/22! Goal setting can help start your year on the right note.
Some great jewelry goals are maintenance, upgrading, working on your jewelry wardrobe, and adding new sparkle! Obviously, not every goal is for every person. It’s nice to have some ideas to build from and I think those are good jumping off points.
When was the last time that you had your jewelry cleaned and checked for wear and/or damage? It’s so important, but so often overlooked! This includes making sure that your insurance and any warranty agreements are met. It’s good to make sure that your gems are secure and that your jewelry is cleaned and in the best shape it can be. This helps to ensure the beauty and longevity of the piece, it also is fun to pick up your jewelry when it’s at its sparkliest.
DSS strikes even those with the biggest bling. You have probably seen that acronym before if you’ve been in the PriceScope forums, or spend time around a lot of diamond lovers. “Diamond Shrinkage Syndrome,” can make the diamond that you were so happy quickly seem to be much smaller than you remember it being! There are a few ways to help, including cleaning, that can help up that sparkle. If other methods don’t satisfy, upgrading is a fun adventure and several vendors have upgrade trade-in programs that you can take advantage of!
Having glorious event jewels may be the goal for a lot of people, but having the staples for regular wear is important. Some chose to go for a capsule wardrobe, with less pieces that get near daily wear. A wedding set is typically worn every day, a couple of nice necklaces, a bracelet, and a few pairs of day to night earrings can go a long way. Making sure that you have pieces that can be worn with a lot of your attire is a great start to getting a jewelry wardrobe underway.
This is most PriceScopers favorite pastime, jewelry shopping is a fun adventure that ends in something that makes you really happy. There are so many fabulous pieces out there, and you can mark different goals for your annual jewelry budget. This year, I encourage color as a goal! It’s been a weird couple of years and pops of color are often bright and cheerful. I like to have an idea of what I am looking for and not just aimlessly wander. I LOVE eye candy…don’t get me wrong, but when I am shopping for myself I need focus.
We’d love to hear your jewelry goals for 2022 in the comments! No matter what they are, we hope that you are finding satisfying jewelry journeys and taking (reasonable) leaps into jewelry fantasy. You are not required to love jewelry according to other people’s tastes. Love what speaks to you and makes you happy. What moves your heart and makes you feel good, or has a beautiful emotional sentiment behind it; those are the pieces that will bring you a ton of joy over the years.
Thank you for a fabulous 2021, PriceScope friends and family! We cannot wait to see what 2022 brings for you and your jewelry boxes! Either way, we will be cheering for you!
