With gorgeous gowns and glittering diamonds, the theme of classic Hollywood glamour prevailed at the 2013 Academy Awards. Our favorite looks include the blush-pink gowns offset by down-the-back (backlace) diamond necklaces worn by Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway.
And when it came to the most regal look of the evening, Amy Adams stole the show in a dove-grey Oscar de la Renta gown and exquisite diamond jewels by Mouawad. Jessica Chastain was in true old-Hollywood form with vintage Harry Winston diamonds and a dress of pure vavoom by Armani Privé. Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman shined in vintage jewels by Fred Leighton. And Jennifer Garner stunned in $2.5 million of Neil Lane jewels, including a 200-carat diamond necklace.
When it came to contemporary looks, we loved Les Miserables star Samantha Barks’ incredible 14.67-carat oval diamond necklace by House of Waris for Forevermark. And singer Jennifer Hudson looked fabulous in colorful opal earrings by Sutra.
Overall the jewelry looks were balanced and tasteful–apropos for Hollywood’s biggest night. We expected to see grand diamonds, as we did with the 2012 Oscars. But larger colored-stone pieces, especially those set with this year’s uber-popular emeralds, were conspicuously absent from the 2013 Academy Awards.
