Women, are you treating yourself to a piece of jewelry (or two) this holiday season? A story in the New York Observer has us wondering just how many of you are purchasing jewelry for yourselves.
Linda Delcher isn’t waiting around for a man to buy her a diamond ring this holiday season. As she strides into the 1884 Collection, it’s clear she’s doing that all by herself. And why shouldn’t she? “Buying jewelry makes me happy!” she exclaims, “My desire is to own – or as Elizabeth Taylor said act as the guardian for – beautiful, intriguing pieces that tell a story or evoke a feeling.”
The story reminded us of our many female Forum participants who take the reigns when buying jewelry. After all, we are a jewelry-loving community with deep roots in getting exactly what we want. And so many of us buy our own jewelry and certainly don’t wait for someone to buy it for us.
The Observer article is focused on women buying jewelry for themselves this holiday season, so that’s our poll’s focus. We’re not concerned with where the money comes from. We’d simply like to know if you’re buying jewelry for yourself as a holiday gift. Please cast your vote!
