Fancy cut diamonds are very much in the forefront of consumers’ minds. This is because one can get a larger ring for the same price of an equivalent round shaped brilliant diamond. One such fancy shape which has seen a resurgence is the pear cut diamond. It has appeared in many celebrity engagement rings, and designers have begun incorporating the cut into many diamonds as a center stone or as an elegant accent stone.
However even though one can afford a larger pear shaped diamond, it does not mean that it will come without flaws. Pear cut diamonds highlight color inconsistencies and inclusions. Furthermore the “sharp” end of the cut is vulnerable to chips and as a result, one should look for a pear shaped diamond that does not possess a very fine tip.
Yet the aforementioned factors should not make you wary of becoming a fan of this cut. Pear shaped rings are a great way to elongate short and thick fingers in addition to its ability to modernize a traditional setting. We have seen many pear shaped diamonds set in halo settings and paired with a variety of cuts to create a unique look. One added bonus which means everything to newly engaged brides, that the light return. Pear-shaped diamonds bring the sparkle wherever they go and we are sure that is one of the reasons we are seeing a resurgence in the cut.
Can you see why pear shaped diamonds have been slowly taking over? They create stylish, yet refined looks and work well as the center of attention. Rest assured, you can expect to see more of these diamonds in designs and paired with different types of settings.
