I have decided to sell my asscher ring, but as I'm in the UK and I have no way to ship it insured internationally so I am looking for a UK buyer. I'm asking £9995

Here is the listing on loupetroop:

Here is the SMTB link with loads of photos. videos and info:

Your price is pretty toppy. Whilst you couldn’t pick this up for that cost in a brick and mortar store in the U.K. it’s not far off the cost to buy from James Allen and make your own. I think you’re being rather optimistic.

Oh, gosh. That's my dream-of-all-dreams ring. Unfortunately, I live in California and don't have plans to be in the U.K. again until mid-2022. (If it hasn't sold by then, I'll buy it from you. Seriously. Dream ring.)

It's a well cut asscher; not a run of the mill, lifeless block. So, I think the right price is whatever someone wants to pay.

Guess it depends how fast it needs to be sold. You’re right there is a buyer for everything.

Omg! May I ask why you’re selling it?

I disagree. It's a stunningly beautiful cut. Step cuts are very hard to get right, and when they are, rightfully command a premium. Not to mention the top clarity, high colour and high quality setting. A UK buyer will be very lucky to pick this up.

I also think it's a bit impolite to comment on the selling price of a ring 20 minutes after it's been posted, when the seller hasn't asked for opinions on this. If it's unsold in 6 months and the seller is complaining, well, that's possibly the time to offer an unsolicited opinion - but I strongly suspect this won't be the case here ;)

If I had the funds I would seriously fly to the UK to pick this up. This is one of the most beautiful asschers I’ve seen.

Of course. Its a bit weird trying to explain it but here goes.

I recently lost my best friend after a horrible illness. This ring was meant to be the fulfilment of a long-held wish to own a fabulous asscher, but finally finding this stone and designing the ring coincided with a very difficult time in my life. The ring ended up being a project which provided a much needed distraction for me whilst coping with what was happening to my friend but now that she is gone I find that the ring only reminds of this very difficult time and I just don't enjoy wearing it any more.

I have sat on it for a while, waiting to see if my feelings would change but my mind is made up so I decided to list it.

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear this. It is tough to have and keep such a beautiful piece that is doing the opposite of garnering wonderful feelings upon looking at it. I am sorry for your loss. I hope you have a quick sale and that the transaction can be part of your continued healing process. Positive thoughts to you and your friend's family.

I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have only emoji responded to your post. Given other comments here I want to make clear that I’m sad about and empathise with your situation. Fingers crossed for a quick sale - your stone looks beautiful!

I understand this. All of this. and I'm so very proud of you for being able to reach this decision on your own and let go of things that have little meaning any more. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I'm positive this new beauty will end up exactly where she needs to be.

xo

I’m so so sorry. May she Rest In Peace. I totally understand the feelings attached to the ring. It is a gorgeous ring and someone is going to be so happy that you put all that work and love into it.

Thank you, MillieLou.

diamondhoarder, I had a feeling it was something like this but I didn't realize how bad. That ring helped you through an awful time in your life but now it saddens you to look at it. It needs to be with someone else.
Maybe someday you'll design and commission another ring as a tribute.
Big embrace.

It is a dream ring, as well-executed as you'll find. I have one like it but not as nice, and I just adore it. Maybe the planets will align.

When I look at the best Asschers on BN in that size, G - H color and good clarity they run $11,200 to $13,500. This is without the platinum ring and hand-selected baguettes and before any labor. I don't think this kind of quality is ever a bargain. You just look for a fair price.

Stunning ring.

OP, have you considered using an intermediary if you should have an interested US buyer? Maybe someone like Dave Atlas or another independent appraiser could serve as middleman, with the two of you splitting his cost? Then he could handle the shipping, from you to him, and from him to buyer ... just a thought ... good luck either way.

I just want to say that I’m so sorry for your loss, and I completely understand your reasons for selling. Jewelry is emotional and the feelings have to be right, or it doesn’t make sense to keep the piece.

pS - this is the most gorgeous ring ever.

@diamondhoarder it is truly a really beautiful ring and I’m so sorry for your loss. I totally get that association with an object. I really don’t understand the other poster’s rude comments on the price they aren’t even right, your ring would cost way way more in any UK jewellery shop (think 50-100% more to anyone not from the UK looking at this thread) it’s a great price!

Dust for quick sale.

It is a lovely stone and ring, I believe it is a fair price.

However, step cuts are not particularly popular in UK, and I have only seen step cuts in this size and quality in the high end jewellery shops in London, mainly ECs very rarely Asschers.

Good luck!

DK :))

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Your ring is beautiful. I find I’m having a hard time wearing my Canera for similar reasons. I wish you a good quick sale. This will be a lucky buyer for sure.

@diamondhoarder I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Life can really be a bit sh!tty sometimes. Sending peace & hugs your way.

I am in the UK & would snap this up in a heartbeat for that price if I was in the market. It's a truly stunning asscher.

Gorgeous ring! I’m with @Redwoods-hiker-girl, totally dreamy. Dust for quick sale.

It’s gorgeous and I don’t have a problem with the price. I have a 1.52 G Vs1 In a custom CVB iD setting. I think yours is priced right.

I've always been impressed with your diamond selection @diamondhoarder ! They always seem to have the
best light return and that extra Je ne sais quoi that makes them stand out! Good luck with a quick sale!

I am trying to figure out if/when I could fly to the UK to make this gorgeous ring mine!!

Thanks to all of you lovely PS'ers who posted supportive comments. One of the reasons I love this forum so much (apart from the bling) is that there are some really great people on here.

Its frustrating that my market for selling this ring would be a lot bigger if shipping to the US was more of an option. I may consider the option of using a UK appraiser as an intermediary if they can handle shipping, but even if its possible it would add additional costs and then on top of that the ring would attract import taxes for international buyers which might then make it a less attractive purchase.

I tend to think that for a transaction of this size when its a private sale, its best to be handled on a face to face basis. So if anyone interested is in the UK, or planning a trip here then please do contact me via the loupetroop listing.

I do have the option to consign the ring at a London jeweller who has sold other things for me before and generally gets me a very good price. But I thought I would try here first since there are so many discerning buyers here on PS.

@diamondhoarder, do you mind me asking the London jeweller you’ve happily used for consignment before? Always useful info to have tucked away!
