Hi PSers, I’m comparing two round brilliant cuts with the following specs, would appreciate your views on which would be a better choice:

Stone 1. 1.69 carat E VVS2 (7.69 x 7.74 x 4.64) HCA 0.8 - depth 60.1%, table 58%, crown 33’ 13.5%, pavilion 40.8’ 43%, star 50%, lower half 75%, girdle medium-slightly thick 3.5% - great spread but I’m just concerned whether this would appear dark / lack brilliance? might mention this is medium fluorescence which doesn’t affect the diamond’s clarity, and also doesn’t bother me.

Stone 2. 1.7 carat E VS1 (7.63 x 7.57 x 4.72) HCA 1.2 - depth 62.1%, table 57%, crown 35.5’ 15.5%, pavilion 40.6’ 43%, star 50%, lower half 80%, girdle medium-slightly thick 4.0% - average spread but I don’t need it looking any larger.

thanks in advance!!

Can you provide photos/videos or ask for an Ideal-Scope or ASET image of both of them?

Just from the specs, I'd lean towards diamond #2, the 1.7ct.
Echoing what @Kim N stated about pictures, videos, and advanced images if you have any or can get them.

Between the 2, definitely the 1.7.
I don’t like the optics of the 13.5 CH! And not a fan of a 58 table. Also, I’m not in favor of Med fl with an E.

Here’s a video of the 1.69ct which looks beautiful and sparkly to me - my fear is that the centre of the stone would look dark once set (I read that on a separate thread where someone else was looking at a stone of similar specs)! Let me know what you think, thanks very much!

I’ve asked for the aset scope but it’s been a number of days and have yet to hear back. The vendor did say the supplier / cutter runs a small business so maybe they don’t have an aset scope available?

The edges of the diamond may be the concern here, as the bezel facets appear dark (over the arrowheads). I can't get the video to load, which may be a problem with my phone's browser, so I unfortunately can't offer much more than that right now.

Thank you

We got hold of the aset image for the 1.69 carat which looks perfectly fine to my untrained eyes (perhaps some slight white spots / light leakage in the centre but doesn’t look like it’s going to be a problem at all). Good to know what you experts think!432A364F-EF32-405C-A4DD-4077071F1749.jpeg
