So, I know I am not the only pricescoper going though this.

I am 5 feet even and my FI is 6 foot 5inches. Thats quite the difference. What height heels are all of you out there with the same issue braving? Or plan on braving, or already braved?

I was thinking of getting higher ones for the ceremony and posed photos and a lower pair that I can dance/ spend the rest of the evening in.

I am seriously considering trying 6 to 8 inch heels

I understand that i would need to get the dress hemmed to the highest heels and that going from a 6/8 inch to a more comfortable 4 inch heel will probably destroy the bottom of my dress. Maybe 6 to 4 not too bad. Or maybe there is something I could do with the bustling that could bring the whole height of the dress up... I havent quite worked out all the kinks in my scheme =)

Anyway, I would like to hear how any of you are tackling this issue. Or if im the only one out here who even cares that im going to look like a midget =)

Oh for all those non-americans out there who have a metric system that actually makes sense instead of our weird arbitrary one...

17 inches = 43.18 centimeters

Almost half a meter difference!

Hey there, 5''2" marrying 6''5" here. I am wearing 5" wedge platform heels. Higher than that and you risk being tottery and falling over. The wedge part helps with stability. The platform part means your feet won''t be in excruciating pain.

My FI is over a foot taller than me. I''ve never worn heels and I don''t think our wedding day is the time to start. I don''t think I''ll wear anything over 1 inch, if that. I want to look and feel like myself that day and hobbling around in heels, trying not to fall, isn''t what I want to focus on.

Well I am 5''5" and FI is 6"4, so not quite as much as a difference as you are facing, but I am going to wear 4 inch heels. If you are going to wear 6 to 8 inch heels, I would deffinitely recommend get a shoe similar to below, with a slight platform under the toe portion, or else they will be too unsteady to walk in. Whatever you do, just practice practice practice in those shoes! You wouldn''t want to have any disasters walking down the aisle! HAHA....

WOW I just looked up the 7 inch heels, those puppies are high!

i''m not too short (5''8" when i don''t slouch), but the guy is 6''10". i''ll be wearing whatever can bring me up to 6''0"...though i have done this before and still look short. oh well!!

Hey, I''m 5'' even and fiance is 6''5" too! For our engaement party, my mom was horrified when I showed up in 7" heels that were reminicent of stripper shoes (I was in a long gown, so no one saw my shoes). I agree, IMHO they did look like stripper shoes, but I really wanted to look taller. I really had to practice walking around in them. They''re similar to the ones someone just posted with a platform in front, but were white. Now, for our wedding- I haven''t decided. I don''t think I could pull off wearing heels that high all day, plus I personally would probably not want anyone to see those shoes, unless I could find a pair that looked less "strippery". Your idea about wearing them just for the ceremony and then changing into another pair is a good one, especially if you can find a way to bustle it that brings the entire length up!

I''d reconsider. A lifetime of those 7 inch heels can lead to back problems. Does he have a shorter brother?

I''m 5''9.5" and FI is 5''8" and I plan on wearing 4 inch heels, minimum! I''ve always been a heels girl, and I told that to my FI on our first date. Luckily, he loves tall women and doesn''t mind if he''s the shorter one!

If you''re not used to wearing high heels, don''t. I wear them all the time so wearing flats on my wedding day would feel so strange, so I''m assuming the opposite would be true, too.

For shoes in the height you are talking about, you are basically looking at stripper shoes. Below are links to the most "weddingy" ones I could find, but they still look very Las Vegas wedding.

I am 5''2 and went to prom with a guy who was 6''4. I wore 4" heels and it really was enough. Any woman short of a super model is going to short next to your FI, so don''t worry so much about it. I am wearing between 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 shoes for my wedding and I will still be shorter than my FI by quite a bit, but it is worth it to be able to wear shoes I truely love. I would reccomed shoes between 4-5 inches tall since you can get ones not made of plastic and still add a lot of height like the ones below.

My dear girl...and I don''t mean to sound patronizing at all...but please, please don''t wear some crazy high shoe just for your wedding day. There are props that can be placed so that the height difference doesn''t seem so disproportionate in pictures. Wear at most a 4" heel and ask the photog to bring along some props you can stand on while at the alter and other posed places (by the cake, with family, etc.)

Do you really want to tell your future children you had to wear stripper shoes at your wedding? No. I don''t think you realllllly do. I think you just need to get creative here and make the situation work so you are both comfortable. Gosh, men have worn lifts in their shoes for years to seem taller and no one has said anything or acted like it was a problem, so why should you be any different?

Everything will be fine...just talk to your photographer and I''m sure he/she will have great ideas for you. Save your tootsies/ankles/legs, and hem. Find a pretty/normal pair of shoes and be done with it.

LOL, this response still has me laughing!!! And, no. No brothers =P

I used to do alot of dancing when i was younger and am pretty comfortable moving and grooving in 3-4 inch stilletos (not that i have any plans for tiny heels on my wedding day) but, any heel over that I would definitely have to go platform style. I know most high plats look stripperesque but...who would see them? I mean are people really looking at my feet during the walk down the aisle? lol

Good to see others atleast think about it too =)

I think monnies take on the profession

of the shoes is a funny one...and she has great advice. (little does she know that is all I have in my closet

I would like to point out to all you darling pixie pint sized brides...that is is no surprise to anyone who loves you...that there will be a size difference. And frankly odds are...your beloved loves you the way you are...and not some fake amazon woman on stilts walking like Herman Munster

.

Your wedding day you need to feel your most beautiful...but you must be yourself. AND MOVE LIKE YOURSELF!!! Not something you think others will expect you to be. No globby fake eyelashes or extra long hair extensions or stuffing to make you look more endowed...

Just subtle pretty things to make the beauty YOUR UNIQUE beauty shine through. Part of your envied beauty...is your stature. You are going to spend a lifetime with that height difference...three hours on heels to make photos appear different is nutts. AND FAKE!!!

You will have several photos that the height won''t even be an issue. Standing on Stairs and him carrying you...sitting and sitting on stairs...camera held above you...sitting on his lap or seated...there will be a ton of photos where no ones height is evident. Hang your hat on those...and slide your tootsies into practical shoes. Embrace the fact that your to be husband loves his little munchkin and wants you no other way!!

Of course unless when asked if any one has any objections about the marriage... he says YES...I do...what was I thinking?? she is too tiny! I can''t live with this height difference!! I am outta here!

My friend is wearing the stripper heals for her wedding, but she is used to wearing heals (she''s 4''10"). She tells me that you have to get used to them.

I personally would wear what I think I could wear all day.

I don[''t mean to dissuade you from wearing your high heels if that''s what you want, but at one of our friends'' weddings (she''s 4''10", he''s like 6''4"), she wore five inch heels. I heard many people saying that she looked disproportionate throughout the evening. She ended up kicking off her shoes, bustling her dress, and looked beautiful at the reception.
