I called my dress store about my wedding gown yesterday. the store''s computer says it should have shipped on the 14th. I should have called them earlier in the day so they could have called the company to see if it really did ship then- but the whole time zone thing made that not work since I called the shop at 3pm PST
29.gif

worse still, the shop lady said another dress from that designer was supposed to ship with mine, but they were notified it got delayed and won''t ship until like the 28th!!!!!!
she said she''s gonna call the company monday and find out if it really did ship. if it''s coming all this way ground it could take more than a week to get here, so maybe it''ll get in before the end of next week, but....

THEY WERE WRONG!!!!!!!!!!
We got a call this morning (mom answered cuz I was still asleep) from the bridal shop. I guess the woman who usually does receiving had to go to have emergency surgery or something this week, so their shipments are rather disorganized. Turns out my dress IS in, it just hadn''t gotten marked with my name yet or something. But with the price of gas here, mom doesn''t want to go over with me just to see it unless we can meet with the seamstress at the same time, and I can''t do that on a weekend

So the dress is in, the veil is in, the extra yardage for the wrap is in and I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR MY FIRST FITTING ON MONDAY AT NOON!!!!! Good thing I don''t have a job anymore cuz I''d have to be skipping it for this I''ve got my shoes, so I can get the hem done (did you know they only cut the extra fabric off the front of the dress when you have a train, not all the way around - whatever seamstress figured that out is a GENIUS...hehehe), and I''ll buy a bustier from them there at the store (they have a pretty good selection, and I''m a very normal size so they should be in stock). I have to have this all done before I leave Cali in a month, so we''re sort of in a rush, and the poor woman has to deal with the lace on my gown but she seems really good, she was there the one day I''d gone to pick this one out- they told us she used to be the official seamstress at Disneyland making all the princess gowns, how cool is that?
she''ll be making my wrap, and we''re gonna ask her for the extra fabric she cuts off the bottom of the dress to use to make a garter. my mom made hers, so she''s gonna help me. I''ll use the mocha satin to make a tube around some elastic, then sew the lace hanging down from the bottom. we''ll go get a locket or something at the jewelers

and I just made an appointment for a mani/pedi for tomorrow afternoon so I can see if I like red nail polish with the dress

so I''ll post pics on monday from my fitting YIPPEEEEEEEEE!!!

Wow,

So sorry about your frustrations! Your post made me laugh, though...it started out as a rant, but ended with a Yay!
I think I feel like that a lot lately... up and down, up and down.

I cannot wait to see pictures of you in your dress! I''m sure that your seamstress will work extra hard to make everything wonderful on time.

Yay! I''m so glad it all ended on a good note. You sound so excited!! I can''t wait to see pictures!

Good luck with your fitting! I look forward to seeing pictures!

yeah, it''s been a real rollercoaster lately! I leave town in exactly 1 month, the wedding is 41 days away. So most things will have to be done before I leave, like the dress and the music playlists. And a few things I CAN''T get done until the last week when we''re in Louisville - like the final hair/make-up trial, the final seating arrangements, printing the programs & placecards, etc.
I''m so excited about tomorrow!
I think I''ll have them do a bustle like this:

I''d wanted one like this:

but I don''t think I have enough fullness to the skirt to pull it up to the waist like that. We''ll see tomorrow I guess!

My dress:

Oh, thank goodness it all worked out! I was getting all worried then I saw the happy icon and I was like, "phew!". GL with everything!!!!

That''s so exciting that your dress is indeed in & you get to try it on today! Yay! I love the bustle photo you posted of the lace dress & think yours would look fabulous like that!

Have fun & I can''t wait to see pics of you in your dress!

OK, went to the dress shop for my first fitting today! It was a little hard to understand the lady, but things turned out fine. I didn''t have a particularly good time, but things turned out well. It''s gonna cost $226 to have the strap adjusted, the bodice taken in, the skirt hemmed, the bustle put in, cups sewn in, and have a wrap made from some extra fabric we ordered with the dress. She''s even putting an extra pad in the right cup for me to even my boobs out - you have no idea how dumb I felt asking her for that! But I''m not having a bustier now, so that''s one less thing to buy. Mom thought I needed a necklace with it, so we went and bought one. I''ll post pictures of that later.

First, the veil, just to keep you in suspense.

Faerievert, that dress is amazing! It''s so perfect for you, even with everything pinned up, the fit is great and it looks very sophisticated. Is the underskirt a champagne color like the belt? I saw your other thread about finding it, and it made me start looking at Jacquelin dresses, which I had never heard of before.

Everything looks great!!! So glad to hear it''s all working out; I was worried when I started reading your first post!

yup, the underlayer is the same satin as the sash. they call it ''mocha'' - I call it beige. We ordered extra of it to have the seamstress make me a matching wrap. And there''s still even more extra left, so I''m using it to make my garter and wrap my bouquet stem, and probably line the flowergirl basket as well.
