Can the experts tell me about 100 facets ?

Does it make a difference ? Is it more beautiful than H&A 58 facets ?

While no expert, I can tell you that having 100 facets does not make it a better performer than a round brilliant (58 facets). The extra facets will make it more fiery - that is it'll break down the reflected lights into more of the spectrum. Picture a disco prism ball - alot of flashes and color but not more brilliant.

If you like to see reflection of rainbow colors coming from your diamond, then it may be a good alternative for your. However, if you prefer to have brighter light reflecting from your diamonds then stick with the round brilliants.

I'm not an expert, but the ring I'm in the process of purchasing has a 145 facet diamond(my icon is a picture of it). To me I think it's a nicer stone than a H&A 58 facet, but it's a personal choice. Personally I think the the 145 facet stone has more sparkle and brilliance than a H&A. Good luck on your decision

I'd love to see a picture of that diamond. I can't see it through the icon. Can you please post a picture?

thanks

The job of a facet with the exception of the table facet is like that of a prism, to break light into the color spectrum not increase its magnitude or intensity. In contrary to what tomatoe remarked, Diamonds which display these extra facets cannot increase the brilliance or white light return to your eye. Comments have been made that these stones display an interesting pattern, but are not really known for their brilliance./www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]

When and if the time ever comes when you would ever considering selling a diamond with all these extra facets, in most cases it probably will not command a higher re-sale value than that of a similiarly proportioned round

There seems to be no added value in these diamonds with extra facets, just added cost..
