Does anyone here have any idea of the background on this necklace please. My wife owns a full set but we do not know where they came from. Thank you.

Did you closely check the back and clasp for any marks or stamps? For a piece as elaborate as that (stunning by the way), I would have thought there would be a maker's mark.

Does your wife remember when and how it came into her possession -- whether she bought it new herself or received it as a gift, the year would be helpful. If it is a family piece, the origin story would be helpful.

Is that your photo by the way? It looks to me more like vendor photo.

Welcome!

Looks like it was on eBay -- that's an eBay photo or screen grab but the text is just a category name.

The metal-work looks wavy to my eye -- between the rows of the largest sections in the front. I would not expect that. Could just be an artifact in the photo but it's possible that it's not genuine. Also, there is a huge excess of metal, to my eye, and that typically would not be the case with gold. I may be 100% wrong but it raises my suspicion for plated base metal.

Thank you, hopefully you are wrong but one never knows.

No, bought it on Ebay. The clasp has a 14k mark and some other one I cant read. Thank you.

OK, don't mean to give you heartburn. I would at least have the metal corroborated since, from the quality of the make, I don't think there is likely to be a lot of value in the colored stones (London blue topaz, citrine, garnet) and the precious-metal content then would be the major price-maker.

It just does not have a very refined look on the back and in the articulations. The clasp also does not look like a "fine jewelry" clasp, although there is a safety.

Again, I could be completely wrong and it could consist of high-quality elements that are simply inexpertly assembled or assembled to a local standard that I am unaccustomed to seeing in NA or Western Europe.

Looks like plated metal to me, but obviously I don't knoe for sure

^ I'm not denying what is stamped on the clasp; I'm sure you read that correctly. Are you following?
