Coloured stone lovers, can you please help me price this stone? I bought this from Gems by Nomads at a jewellery show here where I live. I've never set it. I love its colour (I only see green with a tiniest hint of blue, don't see any yellow) and shape, as well as its scintillation. But alas it is too small for me - was thinking of setting it in a ring. I paid USD7k+ for it. Dunno what to ask for it in the secondhand market.

It measures 10.3 x 8 x 5.5mm.

As soon as I can figure out a price, I will list it on LT.

Thanks.

Could you halo it to make it a size you like? The stone is a beautiful colour but Nomads isn't particularly cheap and on somewhere like Loupetroop you will probably have to accept a bit of a loss in order to sell it.

Holy moley that is a truly gorgeous Tsavorite pear!

I'd have thought it would be a keeper stone for you, but I understand how it goes, when sometimes we have special stones but just don't get around to setting them.

Likely it will be out of my price range but IMHO this is a spectacular Tsav.

Sorry I can't assist with pricing it, except to suggest discounting a percentage off what you originally paid, and/or finding current comparables (if even possible) and discounting from that? Since this is a special Tsav in terms of color/size/cut, maybe Nomad's would be interested in buying it back from you?

swoon!

GORGEOUS stone!

I agree with starting with a percent off purchase price, and then dropping accordingly. Most people looking for tsavs that size and color will probably be aware that they're pricey, and honestly just eyeballing it I had been guessing potentially $6-8k.

I would look at Prima gems comps. They have a large inventory of stones not all of which are online. They also have a limited inventory on ebay with prices listed. Hope that helps.

My guess is that you might be better off selling on FB in one of the gem groups, as lately it seems that LT clientele want large discounts...

On and btw, magnificent color!

I thought of haloing it, perhaps a double halos - the inner one with tsav melee and the outer diamonds. But it'd be very hard to find a setter who could find it me perfectly matching tsav melee; or at least that's what I think.

Nomads are not the cheapest; but I seriously looked for several years at coloured stones and especially tsav's, before I decided on this one. And Nomads' goods are much better cut, much better quality. They supply to many brand name jewellers, including Tiffany. I wish I could wear this one, bc I really love it, but it is too small for my taste. I know I'll have to discount it, but I have no idea yet how deep. Mind you, a very steep discount would discourage me from selling it.

Thank you.

Thank you, distracts! :)) It really is very beautiful; pics do not do it justice.

Yeah, I don't think something like this would go for less retail. Tsav's are not cheap, for sure. Question is: how much of a % off?

Thank you, minousbijoux. I'm not familiar with the online vendors, so that's very helpful.

How does one get into one of these FB groups? I keep hearing about them, but am still not a member of any.

And thank you, it really is a beautiful colour.

Does anyone remember how much this one sold for?

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/somebodys-gotta-buy-this-stone.177156/page-90

I think it was arround 4.5k (but I could be totaly wrong), and actually I get the feeling it is the same stone featured in this thread.

https://www.pricescope.com/forum/colored-stones/otl-s-acquisition-t226095-30.html

I think a pear might sell for a tiny bit less than a round stone. But maybe that gives a rough comp.

You could always try listing it for whatever you feel is reasonable and mention the price is firm. But I am inclined to agree with others -- it looks lovely on your hand. It would probably be better to keep it.

That's a gorgeous tsav. I wonder how much it did go for; also whether tsav prices have gone up or down these last few years.

I would if I could find a setter that could locate tsav melee of the same colour as mine. The only way I could wear it is if I could make it look larger with a tsav inner halo. I like my jewellery large!!

Thank you.

Honest opinion when I saw it because it's 2.89 and not over 3 carats, I thought fire sale around half what you paid to $4000.00, $5000 to $5500 maybe to the right buyer. If you go to the gem shows they do have Tsav melee, if you are worried about it matching then put a diamond halo on the inside then the Tsav halo on the outside that way if it's not an exact match it wouldn't be as obvious.

Yes, I hope someone else will be able to come by and help you with more precise details. If you decide to keep it you could always set it like the ivyNY ring in this thread

https://www.pricescope.com/communit...s-she-doesnt-like-her-engagement-ring.226415/

and avoid having to exactly colour match the stones. It is a lovely tsav.

If you decide to sell, then I wish you dust for a quick sale.

Thank you for your wish and compliment.

Thank you also for the suggestion; these styles are cute and perhaps more suitable for younger women. Alas, I'm ..uhmm..older! lol

Thank you, arkieb. I'll try to get matching melee at the next gem show - would a vendor still set my tsav with my melee rather than his/ hers? I'd prefer an inner tsave halo, TBH; it'd give the illusion of a bigger centre stone. I guess I like my jewellery big and some might say gaudy!!

Otherwise, I will list it in the price range you've suggested. Thanks again.

For what its worth, I think arkie is probably in the right ballpark for a professional seller, but I think its high for LT. You might be able to consign it for that much. I've sold one or two comparable tsavs in the past couple of years and was lucky if I got $1,200/ct for them. That, coupled with the fact that its a pear shape (somewhat harder to sell), makes me think you'll be up for a challenge.

Hmm...I see. Well, I guess I'll see first if I can set it. I was also thinking a moi et toi ring, but finding a pear-shaped diamond of the same or even similar measurements would be even more of a challenge than finding matching tsav melee.

Thanks, minousbijoux. I really appreciate it.

That would be STUNNING! And I bet the RT crowd would love the challenge; they can find a needle in a haystack. And I am sure others would love to follow the adventure to finish. I know I would!

So...we'd need to exchange some pics and vids, etc., but...I've been debating since you first posted... I like big but don't need huge, and have a similar 4+ ct tsav that I might be willing to work out some sort of trade deal, if you were interested...you can contact me through one of my LT listings, if you wish:

Hahaha, that would be so perfect!

Meanwhile, some of us are as green with envy as these beautiful tsavs! :Up_to_something:

Will put up more pics, and a LT listing soon.

I've also shot a video, which quite accurately captures the beauty of this stone. Once my LT listing is up, please feel free to contact me for the video.

I'd like to ask $4,000.

Thank you. That does look quite comparable. But looking at their pics and my stone, I'd say that mine is a more blue-ish green whereas that one seems to have some yellow in it; not sure how much of a price difference that'd make. But yeah, good comp.

As you know, its really hard to tell from online photos what the actual hue and tone really are. It could be that its bluer in reality, or it could be that you are correct. That's the downside of purchasing online...

In any case, good luck with your sale!

I'll list this shortly on LT. Asking USD4,000 ONO.

Hi Phoenix, do you have a link yet?

Where is the stone from? What is the clarity?

I don't remember exactly. Let me go back to Gems by Nomads to ask them. Re clarity, I think it's close to VVS - VS, it's super (loupe) clean.
