2+ carat unheated/untreated Burma ruby

I got a RARE treat this afternoon. I went to talk to a jeweler about a project and he showed me the rarest of the rare, a 2+ carat completely natural papered pigeon-blood ruby in a very simple, incredibly elegant setting with some diamonds. The stone is a native (though very well) cut oval and just a little sleepy. Absolutely breathtaking.

This is one of those rare guys who knows his stones and he told me it is unequivocally the finest ruby he has ever seen.

If anyone is interested, it is available for around $28k. (I think I''ll get 2!!)

Actually, one of the things I talked to him about was getting some pics of his pieces to post on my upcoming website. He has agreed but it will probably be toward the end of the month before I actually have the pictures.I will, of course, post the pics as soon as I have them in my hot little hand.

hmmm... i just bought a ruby online. risky! i''ll post pics and get your honest opinions. def not blood red though, but i find them too dark!
