2 ctw martini studs-droop?

Hi everyone. I am the ultimate lurker here, and have appreciated all the advice I have gotten on this board. I had a pair of 1.5ctw martini studs that I loved. They fit into my earlobe and created a low profile/floating look. They were comfortable to wear. I had no issues with drooping. Unfortunately, I lost one of the studs a year ago. I am now replacing them with 2ctw studs and planning to go back to the martini setting. However, I am wondering, if I had no droop issues with the 1.5ctw, should I worry that I will have issues with the 2 ctw? If anyone has this size martini studs, I would love to hear your thoughts as well as what type of back you used. My old ones were screwbacks, which I thought were secure, but obviously did not do the job for me:(

I am well aware that martini's can enlarge my piercing, in fact the 1.5 ctw's did just that. However, after not wearing them for a year, the holes actually shrunk back to normal (in case anyone out there is looking into martinis and avoiding for that reason).

TIA for all your help!

Jumbo backs.

I wear approx 2ctw studs in three prong martini settings and they don’t drop at all. Jumbo backs are key, as recommended by @LLJsmom . FWIW, my holes haven’t stretched from wearing them, but I don’t sleep in them.

I feel ya! Here is the $20 fix to my 3.2 ct droopy stud problem. If only it were so easy to perk up other things in my life that have become droopy... :cheeky:

ETA, these aren't exactly jumbo backs they are (slightly) larger than normal backs but with an added part that goes up the back of your ear to provide leverage so the stones don't fall forward.

Mine are 1.84 cttw, and jumbo earring backs are my heros! Normal size earring backs lead to some droop if worn comfortably, or no droop but causes digging in to the ear more than I'd like.

I have 9mm diameter friction/butterfly backs in platinum, but will purchase the large Guardian locking earring backs in the near future, as I'd prefer something that is a bit more secure.

You just need a large back preferably flat and round and that should do the trick. I bought jumbo disc backs on Amazon a few years ago and they make earrings lay flat no droop. I just bought OEC studs that are over 8.5mm in diamneter but the backs they come with are round and flat so I don't even need the jumbo discs I got from Amazon.

Here are the backs of my OEC studs.

FYI the Amazon earring discs.

Thank you everyone for sharing your input. Will consider the jumbo backs. Are there different thicknesses to the friction posts? I prefer a thicker post because it feels more sturdy.
