I inherited my grandmother''s wedding set 25 years ago when I was a freshman in high school. In the last few years the setting had started to show so much wear that I was afraid to wear it. So, my husband decided that resetting it would make a great 20th anniversary present. I spent the afternoon of my anniversary at the jewlery store designing this ring. The center stone and six side stones are from my grandmother''s original wedding set. The halo is new as are the 6 stones in the cathedral that can''t be seen in the picture. I just picked it up on Friday afternoon. It took a little over 4 weeks to finish.

The ring is lovely! What a nice way to save and use the stones from your grandmother''s wedding set. Happy Anniversary!

Very nice...I like the way you put it in an old setting so it still looks somewhat antique. Enjoy your heirloom.

What a great recycling project! It''s beautiful!

Thanks everyone! I had been afraid to reset these diamonds for such a long time because I was afraid the piece would lose its charm. I''m thrilled beyond belief at how it turned out. For some reason, I''d set my expectations low going into this process because I just didn''t think I''d be happy with any new setting. My mother is thrilled that I did this and feels I now have a special piece to pass down. Some other family diamonds have been lost in the last 5 years from falling out of settings and mine are the only stones that still remain from my grandmother''s jewelry.

Tonight I received this info from my mother from a 1984 appraisal of the original rings:

3 stone e-ring:
Center stone - approximately 1/3 carat brilliant cut, VS1, H color
2 side stones - brilliant cut .12 carats each

4 stone wedding band:
brilliant cut .12 carats each for a total of .48 carats

Very pretty.

Congrats!! That''s a wonderful way to continue using your Grandmother''s stones.
