My mom and step-dad are celebrating their 25th anniverasry this year, and did a vow-renewal/party on 9/23. They were officially married in the Catholic church this time. First time I''ve been to a Catholic ceremony (I didn''t have one much to my grandmother''s dismay). They did the version without mass, and it was nice and not too long.

I helped them pick out new rings for the occasions, since neither still had their originals, but I didn''t let them see them until they were given to eachother. Here her new ring, a 1/2ct diamond in yellow gold. Her original was about 1/5ct, she lost the stone a long time ago, so it''s a pretty big upgrade.

And here''s his ring. I talked him into diamonds this time since he has a titanium band to wear everyday. These were tied to their original ring bearer pillow.

This was right after they did the rings, he''s checking his out :-).

When we were little we used to run down the hill on the church lawn and he would swing us around at the bottom. My mom decided she wasted to do that too. It was really cute.

They did the party a few hours after the ceremony at their house. There were about 75 people, and it looked amazing for a front yard. We set up lattice and strung twinkle lights all over it, and tables and rented chairs with white table cloths pink napkins, and my sister DJed with her mp3 player. For food she had a few neighbors bake frozed lasagna, along with steamed veggies, breadsticks from the local pizza place, and salad.

That''s me in the muave dress

My mom''s boss made the cake, French vanilla with lemon filling. That''s their original wedding photo next to the cake. Can you tell my husband was drinking a can of pepsi when he was taking pictures? There''s a few shots with the can in the corner...

And the cake cutting. She changed after about an hour, the dress was a little long which made it hard to walk in.

The party was fun, and it was nice to be able to be a part of the whole thing. I was 3 when they got married the first time, so I don''t remember it much. We had a pretty small budget, but it all turned out better than I had hoped.

I wish we saw more couples who made it to their 25th looking as blissfully in love as your mother and step-father do! I love the cake picture, the way she is looking at him is so adorable and touching.
Congrats to them on 25 years of marriage!

I love the idea...the celebration. The swinging is so adorable and appropriate. Priceless.

25 years...What an example for all of us. Thanks for sharing.

I hope to do the same in 19 more years. Thanks for your kind thoughts, I''ll pass them on.
