Below are photos of my engagement ring. Thank you to everyone here at Pricescope! I was just a reader for the last year, but your comments, stories, advice, and ideas were indispensable. Without your help, I would not have this beautiful ring, and I am so very grateful to all of you!

The stone and setting are from ERD. The stone''s specs are:

Cushion Modified Brilliant
8.85 x 8.03 x 5.25mm
3.01 carat
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
Depth: 65.4%
Table: 62%
Ratio: 1.10
Girdle: Medium to V. Thick, Faceted
Culet: Small
Polish: VG
Symmetry: G
Flourescence: None

I want to highlight a couple of special features of working with Mark and Theodore.

First, my fiance was abroad all summer, and I was on my own in this process. Mark helped me feel really comfortable about what I was seeing, choosing, and designing. He was also very patient as I checked in repeatedly with my fiance, who was half a world away and hard to reach.

Second, I was initially planning to work with Leon Mege on the setting, but after seeing Mark and Theodore''s work - and hearing Mark''s assurance of timely delivery - I couldn''t imagine handing the stone over to anyone else.

Third, I''m picky but I''m not great with technical descriptions. I''m an art historian, so I''m used to describing things, er, artistically. I''m also aware that different artists have different processes. Mr. Mege seemed like he needed a lot of freedom and wanted little direction from me. Mark and Theodore were able to take an abstract description and create EXACTLY what I saw in my mind. I felt much more comfortable being an active participant in the design process.

Fourth, the process was FUN! I knew Mark and Theodore were the right choice when I gave them my abstract description: "This stone is a like a sexy woman who needs an Armani suit, not a ball gown." Their faces lit up! We looked at tons of images in books, on the Internet, from ERD''s own collection, and quickly nailed down exactly what I wanted.

Fifth, delivery was as promised, even though I requested a few changes and I have hard-to-fit hands (check out those knuckles). ERD''s service was flawless.

Again, I am so grateful to everyone here for sharing their stories and (unwitttingly) helping me find the ring of my dreams. If I can be helpful in your search, please let me know! I am happy to answer any questions.

We worked particularly hard on the curves:

I decided the facet pattern looks like a chrysanthemum. Mark thought I was nuts.

The tapering of the band was important to me...

One of my childhood nicknames was Skeletor, due to the bony knuckles. I wear a size 5...but only to get it over the bone. Otherwise, I''d be about a 4.5.

Unsmushing is my specialty!
