Hi, this is a ring that I absolutely adore. The colour hasn't come out correctly in the photos, but it's a beautiful deep pastel pink with lilac overtones. Also, I adore the setting. This is my ultimate dream ring setting - the emerald-cut stone flanked by trilliants.

But I'll tell you a secret: I bought this ring because I loved the centre stone. The two side stones....aren't real. They're cubic zirconia. In time, I hope to replace them with real diamonds, and then it will be a truly stunning piece. (It's hard to find trilliant diamonds, as opposed to trillions. Trilliants have the sharp, straight triangle edges, whereas the trillions are still triangular but curved, I believe.)

My dream is not only to set these trilliant diamonds next to this gorgeous amethyst, but also change the setting - same style, but platinum, perhaps. It's currently 10k gold. The ring cost $150.00, which I didn't think was bad to get my hands on that centre pink amethyst.

I will have to save up for the new stones and the new setting!

Stunning! You seem to have a bottomless collection :)

Very pretty! I love the pink amethyst - its beautiful!

You *do* have a bottomless jewellry vault, don't you! ;)

I've got about six more things, and then the Smith Jewels run dry, except for pearls and Tiffany silver - neither of which are special enough for SMTB. I've been collecting for about 14 years, and I bought quite a bit of it back in 2000-2002, when prices were so, so low compared to today. It may seem a lot because I keep posting, but in fact I've only posted 24 pieces out of 35-ish total!

I'm also quite a canny shopper - I went out last night, and calculated that I was wearing $13,000 of Smith Jewels...but I only paid $4,300 for them, between gifts, buying pre-owned, and buying in sales.

Ohhh....I do have one more lovely thing to show, a rectangular sapphire and diamond ring from my grandmother, but it's currently residing with my mother on her world cruise. My ring is going round the world without me! It's currently in New Zealand, so I hope it's having a lovely time on the beach, and seeing the sights! I won't get it back for about six months, so it will be a long time before I can post it! Shame, as it's a key piece in the Smith Jewels!

Good thing you weren't mugged! you'd have to explain the actual retail value and that would just throw them off , so clearly not worth mugging you at the reduced rate of a mere $4300... :loopy:

You are funny!!! Your ring should have some stories to tell.... :wink2:

HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!

$13,000 worth of jewelery is a lot to me, but there are so many huge diamond rings in America, and then all those 2-caraters upwards, that for lots of people I think it wouldn't be that much! A good chunk of that 13k - almost half - was my engagement ring, anyway!

Very pretty.

Despite the CZ side stones, it's still a beautiful ring! If you didn't tell me the side stones weren't real, I would've taken them for being genuine diamonds from the pictures (still a diamond noob in many ways...)

Thanks, Sweetpea! I know, it completely goes against the grain to buy CZ (I never wear fake jewellery - I've tried and it just doesn't get worn. I just don't feel the same way about the fake stuff!) -but in this case I made an exception because I loved the ring so much. And if I can replace the stones with diamonds someday, and maybe even a platinum setting, it will be a total stunner!
