While searching thru my jewelry box last night I came across a 3 stone mounting that I had forgotten about. (I gave my DIL the diamond for her ering). Anyway, I got to thinking that maybe I should just get 3 new (nice) diamonds to mount in it and wear it next to my yellow sapphire rhr. Where would you go for 3 nice matching diamonds about 1/2 carat size each at a reasonable price?

One more question.....what shape would you use in a 3 stone that will be worn next to a yellow sapphire radiant? I was thinking round or princess. Opinions please?

I would buy three BGD diamonds of top quality, round.

To be worn next to a yellow radiant.. I'd go with a completely opposite, contrasting stone type: three round old europeans.

That way each piece really stands on its own, and since the performance types are so different there's no competition - I think princesses might compete with the radiant because they're similar in shape and performance.

Yssie...where can I find 3 of these that match in about 1/2 carat size?

JBEG and OW diamonds are the first that come to mind for loose stones -

perhaps Singlestone? Fay Cullen has a terrible return policy so I wouldn't recommend, honestly.. I believe Wink can source them too. I think Jon from GOG talked about smaller AVRs in the works in another thread a couple of days ago

Yssie, Yes they were part of my 50th birthday gift from my dh. I actually bought the stones from another ps member, not sure if it is against PS policy to post where...... :cheeky:

Thanks for all your input and support....so excited about my new ring. Dropped them off today with my local jeweler to be set.....2 weeks!

Ahh - I was eyeing that set myself, glad we get to follow them to their new homes! ::)

Yep, she had the pair that were transitional F, VS1 95tcw and the other stone that is .47 oec I, VS1.....Iam soooooo in  with the older stones.......I just couldn't help myself. I hope the 3 stones @ 1.50tcw will give me the finger coverage I am wanting. I wear a size 5 1/2 but have long thin fingers.... :naughty:

I can't imagine 3 50pointers not having significant coverage on a 5.5 finger - that's at least a 14mm spread even if they're cut pretty deeply - perhaps more, depending on how the mounting curves and holds the stones, and apparently a size 5.5finger is just 16mm across :sun:

Thanks Christina and DaniAndi...I am quite excited.....Love the older diamonds....
