I would LOVE to set that garnet in a simple yellow gold setting.

Beautiful stone! I would jump on it, but I have a large round garnet from Barry. Yours is a stunner and I hope it sells quickly for you.

In the listing for this, you mentioned that you ended up with a concave cut garnet from Gene. Did you ever start a thread for the concave cut? I'm sorry to threadjack, but I am very intrigued by what that could possibly look like in real life. My curiousity is killing me! :appl:

Re: 3 Stone Diamond Pendant 1.25ctw + Other Items Avail For

ILander, No I never posted either stone! Before I sell this one I'll try to do a photo shoot for CS with both to show the differences. Both stones are stunning but I have always wanted a red concave so that was my ideal Lindi! The Jua is beautiful too of course, I have a Jua rubellite from Gene that I also adore...that cut is really fun with the faceting.

Bumping..!!

Still have the 8mm Lindi Spess Garnet (surprised this is still around actually!); 1ctw+ 3 diamond pendant; 60point OMC; leaf diamond eternity band, and 10stone double-row diamond ring up for sale.

Got a lot going on, so I'm motivated to sell, ping me to make an offer! thanks!

Apologies in advance if this isn't appropriate, but maybe it might speak to why the Lindi is still there. I'm not sure I've ever heard of "Lindi" as a designation for garnet before, what is it that sets it apart from other red garnet varieties? I think the color is gorgeous, don't get me wrong, I'm just trying to understand the premium? Regardless, I'm awful tempted, I have a definite weakness for garnets!!

MTG...I found this on Gene's site about Lindi, hope it helps.

"These are a rare garnet from Lindi Tanzania, that is a mix of spessartite and pyrope garnet, with a refractive index of 1.78 it has more spessartite than pyrope."

All I know is that I had to wait about 6-9months for him to get more rough from the last time he cut 3 (and they sold out immediately), and in the meantime I didn't see any other cutters with them. So it seems pretty rare. I have thought about keeping both (since I have another one) just from a hoarding or rarity perspective, but I wanted to see if anyone wanted it. If not then I'll keep it and do who knows what with it. Probably nothing since I am notoriously slow to set anything. :naughty: I always waffle on 'should I sell or keep' on almost anything, but then I like to buy new things so then I think sell.

I also found this online on a website, not sure if this means that another term is Imperial Garnet or not. Anyway I call it Lindi because that's what Gene calls it. :) Gene's Lindi's are really red...whereas I've gotten some other garnets purporting to be 'red' which always have a pink undertone to them, these do not.

"Our old memories of the dark burgundy garnets are being replaced by the fabulous exotic stones being mined today. The Imperial Garnet, also known as the rare Pyrope-Spessartite Garnet is the latest in beautiful and exotic gem materials to be unearthed from the Lindi Province of southeastern Tanzania.

The Imperial Garnet is unique in that rarely is material suitable for cutting large or even over one carat. Often many inclusions can be found in these stones. But in the case of Imperial Garnets, their quality is exquisite and they are also of an impressive size, clarity, and an intensity of color saturation. That is why they are so rare and consequently highly collectable."

I thought Imperial Garnets were Malaya Garnets?

Malaya is yellowish orange typically, and mined from a diff area in Tanzania.

For anyone wanting info on the diff types of garnets, Google is great!

Interesting. My malaya that I got from Jeff White is bright rose in sunlight, and a beautiful copper in incandescent.

I find garnets extremely muddled and confusing. Regardless - your's is beautiful! :))
