Hi fellow PSers!

I’m working on designing a three-stone emerald cut diamond ring with tapered baguettes. The tapered baguettes will be .25ctw but I can’t decide what size center stone will look best paired with them! I like the size difference between the center diamond and the side stones on these rings, but I don’t know the specs so I could use your help!

Also, what LW ratio do you all prefer on three stone rings? A chubbier emerald cut (ring 1) or an elongated emerald cut (ring 2)?

Thanks for your input and ideas! ☺️

I love anything between 1.4-1.5 for ratio. That being said, the first picture doesn’t look particularly chubby to me.

The proportions and taper of the side baguettes are important to the overall look too, not just the center stone. Do you have the exact side stones picked out yet?

Agreed! I don’t think I get to pick out my specific side stones, but think I can request preferences. I do like the general look of the sample ring proportions. Total weight of the side stones below is .24ct but I’m not sure what the center is.

I prefer leaner ECs to chubbier ones.

The shape of the Krupp diamond and the Grace Kelly diamonds do not appeal to me.

However, I shan't say no to either of them if they were given to me as a gift! :lol-2:

Each to their own and all that.

I kindly accept all diamonds gifted to me

You design a lot of gorgeous rings, do you have any opinions on the approximate carat weights for side baguettes and center emerald cuts? If I’m looking at .24ctw, would a 3ct emerald cut be too big for the center?

I feel like you might be going at this a bit backwards! I would first pick out your center EC, and then let that dictate the baguettes. ECs can be tricky and I think the first step is to figure out what you love in an EC, and then pick a great performer, then figure out the setting details.

I love your inspiration pic by the way!! Gorgeous, super classy setting.

Haha you’re totally right! I just know that to stay within my budget that’s the only setting that I found that checks all the boxes. I’m just trying to figure out a carat weight range to start my center stone search

Agree with the others to get the centre EC first, then decide on side stones.

May need to go down the custom setting route instead of trying find a stone that fits into an ready setting.

DK :))
