Hi

I’m looking for opinions on the dimensions of this stone:
1.5ct VS1 E colour
Table 57%
Depth 62.4
Crown angle 36
Pavilion angle 40.6

The only thing putting me off is the 36° crown angle. For me, it is a lot of money to spend and I want it to be perfect (well as good as I can’t afford!)

Thanks :)

Do you have a picture of the stone?

57t 36 crown and 55% stars is a no go combo due to darkening of the uppers. video confirms.
Stars need to be under 50%

I don’t know what 55% stars means- can you advise?

Unfortinately I see leakage/darkness.

Thanks- I look at the video and have no idea what to look for!
I appreciate your comment

Blue arrows point to some of the star facets and to the % on the diagram.
With that table and crown angle the long stars make the upper facet girdles(red arrows) too steep. This causes darkness around the edge of the stone in the area of the upper girdle facets.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this to me!
The stone is Canadian in origin and the jeweller has advised me that at this moment they can’t source me any better (unless I move away from specific origin stone) and it will take time to get what I’m looking for. Perhaps I need to drop ct size

I think if you look at Brilliant Earth, they list the origins of their stones.

How are you planning to set the stone - prongs (how many) or bezel?

By "specific origin" do you mean you are only looking to have the rough sourced from specific countries? Mines? Is that your top criteria?

Since they cut their own stones (or work with their own cutters), you may be able to get origin from Whiteflash, Distinctive Gems, Brian Gavin, Victor Canera, and WolfCBI.
