I wonder what you ladies think. I have an Etoilering, measuring 5mm:

Would a 3mm Lucida ring look too thin with it? The next size up is 4.5mm, which in my opinion looked a little too thick. It was just a lot of metal and overpowering to the diamond in my ring. 4mm would be a more reasonable size, but of course, that doesn't exist (at least not anymore. There may have been that option when the ring was first introduced). Anyway, I did try both on, one looking too small, one too big. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures, but I wonder what your opinions are. Does a 3mm Lucida not stand out enough? I just don't want my rings too thick b/c fingers start to look pudgy that way (for reference, I'm a size 5- 5.5 with average-to-long fingers, but I do tend to get a bit of finger-bulge), but I also don't want my wedding ring to completely disappear behind the engagement ring. Thanks in advance for thinking about my silly question.

I think it would look lovely! I like sets with different sizes of bands.

I tend to think that a wedding band thicker than the ering can look funny (of course there are exceptions), but a wedding band thinner than the ering usually looks great. TravelingGal''s set is a great example--her band is 2mm and her ering is thicker, I don''t know how thick but maybe as much as 3.5-4mm??) and it looks great. I''m trying to find a pic and not doing very well with it

if I do I''ll post, though...

Anyway, you said you tried both and didn''t like either, so that''s what matters. Maybe you''re not liking a plain band at all? Or you need to find a 3.5 or 4mm band? You could get the wider one and have them shave it down, if having the Tiff''s one is important.

I think they would be a nice combination. I am not sure that I would like wider than 3mm.

I think it would look great, but is there any way you could go into Tiffanys to try it on?

Have you thought about something like the Etoile band? Here''s a pic from Tiffany''s. If you''re worried about the Lucida band disappearing, the diamonds in the etoile band would have enough pop to keep that from happening.

Here''s TravelingGal''s Set. (Hope you don''t mind TGal!)

I''m another fan of a thin band with a wider e-ring. My ering is 5mm and band is 2.5mm. (see avatar)

I think a thinner band would look really cool--nice contrast! I love your etoile!

Thanks, gecko!

Lioness, I really think that the 3mm lucida would compliment your etoile perfectly.

I love the idea of the etoile wedding band. That looks lovely IMO. Please keep us posted!

Thank you all for your compliments and suggestions!

Musey- I actually adore your Jazz band, but the reality is, I am a klutz and a half... There''s no way that ring could be an everyday ring for me. My engagement ring has already been in an unimaginable accident! It''s been pretty much repaired except for a tiny ding in the bezel that they can''t quite smooth out. I find myself staring at it constantly...

Gecko- My original choice was the etoile band, but the set is just so so heavy! The engagement ring itself is a bit to carry on it''s own. plus, FI likes the idea of a plain band (and actually has referred to the etoile band as "Merlin''s Cape", so I don''t think he likes it). I also worry that I might gain weight in the future and not be able to wear my original band ever again (since the Etoile band isn''t resizable.)

I ended up ordering the 3mm Lucida from an Ebay seller. The deal was really something I couldn''t pass up, so I went for it. It was in my size too, so... If I end up not liking it, I can always just sell it in the future.

LMAO at Merlin''s Cape, LOL!!!

I''m sure the lucida band will look lovely!

Would you mind linking the completed auction? I''ve actually been trying to sell my 3mm lucida and I''m not sure how to create a good listing. I''ve been using successful ones as research

Aw, Musey! I was going to ask you if you were still going to hang onto yours, but I wasn''t sure if it was appropriate to ask no the forum. I even was checking out the seller, thinking maybe it was you (since I theeeenk yours is a 5.5 too, right?). I think the best way to sell is to do a Buy it Now or Best Offer. More guaranteed to sell, I guess. Either that or start really, really low (like, $.99), and risk not breaking even. Mine was a best offer situation. Here''s the description:

TIFFANY & CO. 3mm LUCIDA BAND RING sz 5.5 PT950 WOW!
Authentic TIFFANY & CO PLATINUM LUCIDA BAND RING size 5.5, 3mm signed inside PT950. Comes with original boxes, bow, bag and the receipt purchased 11/21/07. Retails for $1025.00...Ring does need good cleaning from Jewelers....Some scratches on it.....Great Deal.....

Hope that helps. It only had 2 mediocre shots. I knew what I wanted, but maybe other Ebayers would be drawn in by your PS-quality photography skills. :)

Aw, man! Yeah, there really isn''t a good way to broach that on PS, I don''t think.

Thank you for posting the info. I''m such an ebay dunce, I can''t even figure out how to to BIN OBO. I''ve had 6 failed auctions for handbags since the summer. I suck at ebay!
