I have found a diamond I am quite interested in and I was hoping to get your professional opinions based on this information. I understand the only way to truly tell is to put your eyes on it but I can't until I buy it. There is a 30 day return.
If you see a concern it would really help my decision.

4.43 Carat Diamond, Round, I Color, VS1, GIA, D114932828

The diamond appears to look good and be fairly priced but
- It has VERY STRONG Blue Fluorescence and INTERNAL GRAINING NOT SHOWN.

I ask:
Q: "I would like to know if there is any haziness or over blue in natural sunlight or UV light - or is it clear with no issues

A: "The notes provided state: Fluorescence Visual: Does not have any negative effect, not hazy or blue."
- They also verbally confirmed it does not show any blue in sunlight. (Does this sound accurate?)

- I do not want to get a diamond that looks Hazy or "obvious" blue in sunlight or other normal conditions.

- Do you think you will be able to see the "internal graining" if you stare at it through the table or will it have it negative effect, especially with strong blue fluorescence?

Thank you in advance!

You have answered your own questions :)).

The stone is extremely cheap for a 4.4ct I VS1 - I see the appeal on the pricing side.

I can say that for myself that graining would be too much, whether or not it colludes with the fluor to create any unwanted side effects. But you aren’t me. ::)

It is a pretty safe opinion to say its going to have some hazy issues, How bad can not be precisely stated with the info provided.

Not that I know much but I would think that strong blue in an I would be an asset, probably look like a G or an H most of the time and a D outside. BUT the graining/haziness would concern me a lot. Too much to spend on a diamond that disappoints you when you look at it. Very good advice above.

I can see the internal graining and it would bother me.

Edited to add: the florescence would not necessarily be a problem for me. It just depends on case by case.

It is good there is a site to get advice and help educate the average consumer. It is disappointing the BN "professionals" did not give their honest personal opinion (unless it was) and only copied their vendor's response instead of doing their due diligence for the customer. I understand they want to make a sale but I would hope they would not knowingly give poor advice just to sell an item that would likely be returned and also have an unhappy customer.

I appreciate all the advice. Thank you!

Of course they want to sell things! Blue Nile is allowed to be a Pricescope vetted vendor because of their return and upgrade policies, not because they actually take time to be honest or educate customers.

I think part of the reason why BN can't give you a definitive accurate response is probably more because they don't physically have the diamond to check. Most diamonds on the site they order in when you do and after that they would have the diamond in person.

Speaking from my personal experience when I asked about potential transparency issues with a stone on both with BN and JA, I was unable to confirm to get any certainty by asking them. One time I was lucky to be told that a 'vendor note' was available when I asked BN and it confirmed that a stone was had a milky appearance. The other time when I asked JA, the recommendation is that if in doubt, they are happy to recommend an alternative.

When buying from a BN and JA, we need to do our own due diligence and check the returns policy to ensure you have a recourse if all fails.

Most importantly though, you avoided this diamond that will in all likelihood be hazy.

Who designated this stone as a Super Ideal? I think it was mislabeled? BN does have Astor Ideals but it doesn't look like this is
one.

Edit...if you want vendors that have the stones in stock where they can answer questions, we do have a Super Ideal
vendor.
