I’m looking at The Olivia Pavé Solitaire from Victor Canera with a ~1ct H&A center stone. I’m worried that the 4 prongs might be a security risk as opposed to 6 prongs. I like the look of the 4 prongs better because it displays more of the center stone’s pavilion. Is this something I should worry about or just go for it?

I think in theory a 6 prong is more secure, but with a VC setting you can be sure you're getting a wonderful and safe setting. Also, for a 1ct stone it should be less of an issue than for, say, a 5ct. I would go with what you like :)

I have a hard time believing a well-set stone would be any more at risk in a well-made 4 prong than a 6 prong. I don't personally like the aesthetic of prongs beyond 4 for a stone that size - I'd go with the 4, myself.

Thank you! Do you know roughly how often a platinum ring from VC would need the prongs tightened? Do platinum prongs of high quality rings require tightening as often as gold prongs do?

Man my original engagement ring was a vintage four prong solitaire, just under a carat, and I wore the heck out of that thing for everything from gardening, rock scrambling and skydiving and it stayed in one piece just fine! I think with a VC quality setting at that size you will be more than fine!!
