5 ct neon red Mahenge spinel in Whiteflash halo

This has been a very long ongoing project since the third quarter of 2009. It started with the purchase of the 4.85 ct Mahenge spinel from Eric Saul of SwalaGemTrader. The stone is very beautiful and the purchase process easy and smooth. Then along came the very generous 10K PS gift by the owners and moderators of Pricescope which led to a design collaboration with a few Coloured Stoners, that was brought to life by Whiteflash. I received the ring this morning and it will not be removed from my hand for a very long time. Without further ado, I’ll share these pictures taken by Whiteflash.

It is platinum with 0.54 ctw of Whiteflash’s trademark ACAs. The widest part of the shank (at the bottom) is about 2 mm while the thinnest part at the top is approximately 1.5 mm. The ring is unbelievably delicate.

Thank you. I'll have to wait until the snow clears up and the temperature warms up a little if I want outdoor pictures. It's freezing outside but I'll attempt some indoor pictures.

The color on that Mahenge spinel is just AMAZING. And WF''s work on the setting is, of course, outstanding. I LOVE the profile of that puppy! If I were you, I wouldn''t take it off, either!!!

It''s gorgeous! All the reworking of the CADs was worth it. You definitely need to post some hand pictures.

That is even nicer than I imagined, even after all the CADs. The double halo worked out very well, as did the shoulder transition (and no missing diamond!). Would you mind posting a picture of the much discussed "bit of metal" under the V-prong?

You know what, I looked through my stash of pictures and none showed the much discussed “bit of metal” under the v-prong. Hmm....What I can say is WF made it very thin and unobtrusive. It does indeed taper down to the lower halo and looks about as thick as the other 2 regular wire prongs.
