5 ct unheated pink sapphire in halo

I swear my next ring will be a different colour...what can I say, I love pink!!

Several years ago, Gene at Precision Gem tweeted a pic of this stone (the one where it’s loose below). He was planning to recut it and send to a lab. I emailed him about it over the next while, we discussed ways it might be recut to reduce the big belly and remove the small window. We weren’t sure what the best course of action was. Eventually, I saw the stone in person and I liked it as is. It reminds me a bit of an antique cushion. And hey, there’s nothing wrong with a belly.
David Klass had it a while while I came up with some funds and tried to find some OECs I could salvage somewhere. I gave up on that, and it turned out he could source them anyway.
So here is my pink sapphire in 1.07 ctw of G/VS OECs, at its most subdued, and its brightest.

@Rfisher Originally, Amy said they could get old cuts for the halo, but they’d be on the warmer side, like in the I-J range. At the last minute, she said they found some G stones. I can’t really tell you any more than that, as I didn’t ask where they sourced them or anything. I will say that at this size (2.75 mm), it’s not very obvious. No one else would know, but when I look, I can see the little culets. Does that help?

Gosh, I love every single thing about this ring. I mean, it‘s pink (and I clearly have a pink addiction as well), and it’s huge, and it’s ridiculously vibrant, and you even used baby OECs. What’s not to love really? Congrats on this insanely gorgeous ring.

I was going to ask you if it had fluorescence because some of those outdoor shots were amazeballs. But then you shared your fluoro pic and I knew that was just one more thing I loved about it.
