So my journey has led to me to a destination! I did a lot of soul-searching, and my hubby and I talked, and we decided that doing a single solitare stone of 2-2.5 carats in our budget was going to be a stretch. We could get the size if we were willing to sacrifice one of the other C's, most specifically cut, and we're not willing to do it.

Which took me to a search for three and/or five stones. But since my first marriage e-ring was a 3-stone, my hubby and I weren't really thrilled to do the same thing again. So it was on to five-stones. In my research, I realized that I could get ideal cut stones in a high color for a little under the budget.

I searched all over PS, and there were two PS'ers whose rings really inspired me: 777lady https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-wf-custom-tapered-eternity-ring.83245/ and luxaeterna's https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/lego-girl-stole-my-ring.143774/.

I've been e-mailing Jamie at BGD and we're talking about doing a modified Nightingale setting, with more of a Truthx3 inner band so it would fit flush with my current wedding band. Stone size would be .6/.8/1.2/.8/.6 BGD Signature H&A G Vs2/SI1 clarity.

My dilemma? Is it going to be too large (current stone ideas would total 4ctw)? My ring size is 9.75 and so far on PS I haven't seen anyone with a ring size larger than 8. I took a picture of my original e-ring, which is a 1/2 carat along with my band, then a photo of my mocked-up five-stone. I drew out the mm sizes for the respective diamonds and cut them out and mounted them on a small band I have. Jamie got a chuckle out of it, but as I can't do what everyone on PS suggests, which is try on rings (store sizes go to my knuckle), I had to get creative. I really want nice finger coverage, and I want the diamonds to be really pretty.

I would love suggestions and opinions and Jamie is supposed to talk to Brian this week for his feedback as well.
thanks!

My concern would be if you'd be bothered by the stones that look like they'll be between your fingers when you close your fingers. If that isn't a potential issue, I like how the mock-up looks. I think you'll have great finger coverage. I've tried on a few five-stone rings and they seem very blingy to me so I'm sure you'll be pleased with that!

What are you choosing for the little stones on the shank? I want a Nightingale, too, and I keep wavering ... diamonds, sapphires, colored diamonds.

I'll be watching for continued progress, and I'm excited for you. :D

maybe scale down to 3.5 tcw? (0.5, 0.75, 1?) Obviously the paper things are probably not super exact but it seems like they are sort of disappearing into your fingers at the edges...

anyway it sounds like it will be a beautiful ring!!!

ETA maybe someone with photoshop skills could sort of make the different proportions?

How it sits is one concern I have. The paper is mounted directly to an itty bitty 1.5 mm band and so it does go around to the edge of my fingers. The modified nightingale would be set up a bit so I am not sure how it would go. One thing I am requesting is the ability to either try on the wax cast or have it cast with some inexpensive metal so I can try it on.

totally love the idea!
I think I might scale the last diamonds on the end a bit though. Also as long as the diamonds don't sit straight on the shank one after another, but instead it was set at an angle following the ring shank curvature then it should work and give you nice finger coverage without pinching the ends. Hope I made sense.

I tried on a five-stone ring where the stones were on the sides of my fingers and I didn't like the way it felt at all (or the way it looked), so I think you're wise to try it on in the wax or an inexpensive mock-up. Then you'll know for sure. I think Brian will also be able to help with your questions.
