I am trying to decide what type of 5 stone band I want for my .31 ct K AVC stones.

What do you think of these two styles?

I seem to like the second one better, probably because the band is not as wide where the stones end (more ring like). It's a different look when the band is wider. More band like.
I left a comment on your previous thread too ;)

Here is a side view, this is the part that has be questioning this style. It seems it would sit very low on my finger like a true band, however I also like the way the first one sits up. So that is what I'm trying to decide.
I may want to wear a thin plain wedding band with this ring so that is something I need to consider as well.

I think both AVC bands could be worn with a wedding band but it just depends on which look you like. For me, I would like the AVCs to sit a bit higher than the plain wedding band so that the AVC band looked more like a ring. If the wedding band sat flush (height wise) with the AVC band, they would look like 2 bands worn together which is nice too. My preference is just the former. I have a friend who has a 5 stone as an ering and I have always loved her e-ring...

Definitely the first one IMO.

I think your "original inspiration" ring complements the softer contours of the AVC stones best. It also has an airier feel than the first BGD ring, which would be my second choice. The sharp edges of the second ring seem to me to fight with and potentially overwhelm the AVCs.

Omg luvsdmb! I am so sorry! I confused your first 2 posts to have 1 BGD ring and 1 GOG!

So my pref is the GOG one, your original idea and my post above is comparing your GOG original idea (like a ring), and the second BGD one like a band.

So sorry for the confusion. I completely missed the first BGD ring. It's nice too, I just prefer the GOG one. They are both similar I guess.

My stones will arrive tomorrow. I am hoping once I see them I will know what setting to use.
I am liking the Brian Gavin Trellis II more and more everyday.

This would be my favorite.

My stones are here. They are stunning but they are TINY!!! This was my initial thought when I saw them, so tiny, I need two more to make a seven stone band for my fat 9.5 finger, maybe I should have just gone with round. OMG now what.

I knew from previous threads that AVC are smaller than rounds, but I still expected them to be a little bit larger.

The first picture shows them from the back, I was going to put a piece of tape on them and try putting it across my finger, but I am out of tape. So I took a picture with chapstick to try showing their tiny size.

I don't even think the Trellis is an option for these stones, since the are so small. I think the open gallery might work or the band that sits flat. Or the GOG setting. They need something with a lift, in order for me to like the ring I really don't think I would like it super flat on my finger since they are so tiny.

They are beautiful stones! They don't look super tiny on your hand. You sound a little disappointed though! I agree that a higher setting will be the better way to go, IMO it makes the stones more noticable. And diamonds look bigger once they're set too. I think once the stones are set they will appear a bit larger to your eye.

Is making it a 7 stone an option? That would give you a little more finger coverage. Pick up some tape today and see what you think when you see them on your finger!

I am a little disappointed. I'm just upset because I was hoping that when I get these I would be happy and done, have them set and have a great ring. Now I feel doubt, and have that bad feeling that maybe I made a bad choice again.
Here is one stone on my finger. Maybe you are right once they are set they will look better.

I'm not sure if buying two more stones is an option.

They will look bigger once they are in the mounting ;))

Ok…I'm picturing 2 more on either side and it will certainly be a beautiful look on your hand! But it will be a bit on the delicate side. It will be a really pretty ring, there's no doubt about that - but it all comes down to what you prefer, and the look you're going for. You mentioned wearing a thin band with it, that will make the stones pop a bit more too. And they will look a bit bigger when set. The goal is for you to be 100% happy with your new ring!

ETA: Just saw your post…Don't feel badly about being unsure! Many people have second thoughts when they see their diamond in person or get a new setting, it happens often, especially here on PS :cheeky: . Don't worry about that, this is a big purchase and what's most important is that you are completely satisfied with your ring!

How do you think they should be set? Maybe bezel set like this?

I thought I would want to see the side profile of them, but since they are so small the band from Brian Gavin that I was unsure about seems like it might work?
What's crazy is I already thought if I had them bezel set like the ring in the link above I could wear a smallish round shared prong along with it. Something is not right with me.

You know, a bezel setting isn't a bad idea and will give you some hand presence and finger coverage.

I agree that going by how you're feeling right now, the BG setting is definitely a good choice because the stones will be set a bit higher compared to the other ones.

Okay.....maybe they will be okay?

I think that is a beautiful look - Looks like they will cover your finger horizontally very nicely!

How did you do that?! Did you put tape down, then put the stones on the tape, or are they actually taped to your finger?

I put them face down and put the tape on the side of them then flipped it over so the sticky side was face up on my finger and then just held it with my two other fingers from the side.
It was crazy, the one view is not good because it's from the side. I might try again. But I like your thought of actually taping them to my finger. I'm trying it again.

Now you've inspired me too! I have 5 loose OECs that I think I have an inkling of a setting. Yours look great, btw!

Taped to my finger, with them touching side to side.

I swear in the these pictures they look larger, in person these don't look as big. Sorry for the glare of the tape.

Have you seen Rosebloom's thread on her 5 stone AVC ring? Her ring is a size 7.25 and her stones are similar in size so you can at least get a feel for how it looks on the hand when set. Her setting is a trellis and looks fairly low.

Yes I love this!!! Maybe a Trellis setting could work.

The fact is in a shared prong setting the diamonds will not cover my entire finger, and even though in this picture it might not look bad, it does look bad in person. So if I keep them they would have to be bezel set to get the finger coverage.

Yeah, a bezel setting will give you more coverage across your finger.

Agreed.

That's why I've never been a fan of shared prong...there is less finger coverage.

If you really want coverage, rounds would look bigger though I think.
