Hi Diamond Lovers,

I have a 5 stone ring and I'm now in the possession of a round brilliant and I'm thinking of combining it with my emerald cut for a 2 stone ring. The first pic os of my existing 5 stone ring, followed by a 2 stone ring I like, it's a bit askew and another 2 stone ring that is more organized. Do you prefer the 5 stone or the 2 stone? I look forward to your thoughts.

I’m all for new dresses—and I can see your inspiration for this reset. Are you a trendy person? How would you feel rocking this on the daily?
Fwiw, I love your current setting. Elegant. Classic. Gorgeous. And I have not been convinced or even tempted to attempt your inspiration setting—and wondered why celebrities are doing this look. But that’s my taste. My opinion. Personally, I don’t think it would be comfortable. I think The 2 stones would be distracting and competing. But let’s hear why you are tempted to do this! Would love to enable you bc as I know fully well, a setting is just a dress!
Also, what size is your new round and what size is your current emerald? And finally-are their colors the same?

I like two stone cuff rings as well as moi/toi, but I don't like those two shapes together. I would prefer fancier shapes. But as Nala said, it's personal preference. This is a ring I dream of making that is a two stone:

I'm having a colored moissanite one made for my sister for a fun sparkly gift. She loves the look too. It's a really pretty design, but I would think you'd have to use smaller stones or it won't be comfortable to wear. I'm actually having this made with slightly smaller dimensions than the example.

I like yours the way it is.

I prefer the five stone. As far as the toi et moi’s go, I prefer the one in the third picture that has the stones more parallel to each other.

I'm going to vote the 2 stone option! My taste is for asymmetrical, unique. Jemma Wynne does a lot of 2 stone designs on her instagram. Brent Neale has done a couple signet style 2 stones as well, but your stones would make that quite a chonk!

Would I change it to the two stone? No. Not if it was a ring I would wear regularly. If it is going to be a ring that you wear occasionally, then I think yes, but agree that I like the positioning of the stones in the third photo best. And I like the way your EC is set now.

I love this modern take on a classic moi et toi ring. I’d say go for it! As your stones are smaller you can have a stone placement similar to the last photo.
I personally wouldn’t hesitate to wear a moi et toi daily. You can always keep your 5 stone setting and diamonds and return it to its original setting if you want a change again a few years down the line. There really is no wrong answer here, both rings are stunning

I love the 2 stone. So fun & will get lots of comments. I’d really work out the PERFECT setting with a consummate professional to get it right.

Two stone - definitely! Modern, young, you see so many of them these days! I like the setting of the ring in the third picture!

Agree. The modern two stone cuff style is not my favorite.

#2, especially like the version of @ItsMainelyYou. #3 looks too straight forward to me. :)) I’m biased because I wear this obnoxious far apart and contrast ring a few times a week. You might not like it, and that’s ok. I like this setting idea since 2017 and have finally found the loose stones to have 1 made this year.

Do it if 1) you like it, not because of trendiness 2) you’re tired of the original setting and/or you have other classic settings already. Let’s be honest, variety is the spice of life.

Have you tried this…cut out the shapes of both diamonds, place them on your hand to check out the layout? It helps with visualization.

I am a 5 stone fan. 2 large stones to me looks like they are competing for attention. Just not a fan of the 2 stone look.

IMHO, 5-stone is a classic whereas the 2-stone is likely to be trend that is likely to look dated in about 5 years' time.

DK :))

I love this! Because it’s a trendy look, I like the idea of using Moissanite :)

would you mind sharing some details of the dimensions?

Hi FL_runner, the dimensions are as follows:

The EC is 7.78 x 6.22 x 4.38 and 2.02 ct

The RB is 7.44 x 4.54 x 4.67 and 1.59 cts

The cutout idea is a good one. I sometimes stack the RB with my EC to get an idea of what it will look like, but it's still tricky to visualize.

I'm voting 2 stone.. it's too delicious not too.
edited to say: you could easily get this in a cz mock up to see if you really like it before you get anything deconstructed.

Sure! I just got the end video for the ring I made my sister with moissanites. The stones look farther apart because the model's fingers are just tiny in comparison. The ring is slightly adjustable. These are 7x5pear and 6x4 emerald.

It's on a 2mm band and because it's slightly adjustable she'll be able to decide how separated the stones will be on the finger. That was exactly my thought :praise: This is a great way for her to try a really cool design with color.

@EmeraldDiamondCity I think it would be beautiful, and my sister is thrilled with the design style. Jewelry should be what makes you happy. While the ring I made is not exactly high jewelry it does give a good visual:bigsmile:

I think if you can swing it, maybe try resetting them into a 2-stone and see how you like it. Or buy a less expensive version and see how you like the look/feel?
