5 stone semi mount, does proportions look off?

I think it looks fine. However, overall I think it is too wide for your finger when looking at it face down (photo #1)

It depends on the centre stone.

A colourless diamond may be overshadowed by the wide traps.

However, a showy saturated red CS like a Ruby, Spinel or Rubellite would be fine.

Personal opinions and all that.

DK :))

To me, yes, the proportions look off. I think the traps are too large for the center, and also the proportions of the traps and bullets with each other. They do not flow well. I think something more like this for the sides looks better.

I don't think it looks off at all, but you have to decide if you like those proportions (where the side stones are sizable) vs the style where the center is significantly larger than any of the other side stones.

Those side stones look really wide to me. I think it will be less obvious with a center stone in the setting but they're just too big
for me*. This is a personal preference so YMMV.

Do these proportions look right? I don’t know if it’s the middle stone missing throwing me off or if what…..

The finger shown is the jewelers which is a size and half smaller than mine, I’m hoping on my finger it will be proportional

If you wish big traps like that - id choose wider bullets.
even if you downsized the traps a bit - id still wish to see the bullets n/s measurement much closer to the traps narrow end n/s measurement.

I wouldn’t tweak (or really judge) anything until I saw it with a centerstone and specifically what it’s corners look like
But here’s some food for thought anyways

Just my opinion, but the proportions of the entire ring are off. The traps should be at least 2mm shorter in comparison with the length of the EC (should actually be as long as the table of the center stone, not the entire length), and the bullets/tapered baguettes are way too small by comparison with the traps. If the traps were replaced with the proper size, the entire ring would be much better proportioned.

Wow thank you for the visual!!

Well. I think it depends on what look you want.

For me, that will look like a “a row of bling” or close to a wide band (less focus on the center stone) but more bling.

If you want more emphasis on center stone I would go with smaller traps.

That is great perspective, thank you! I love my radiant so I def don’t want it getting lost in the traps

personally I also prefer traps that are a bit smaller in length than the center stone (see profile picture) so I don't lose the outline of the center stone. Especially because it seems like it's a sizable center stone If I had added baguettes / bullets, I think I would have gone a little less wide on the traps, too. It's also definitely personal preference - there's not right or wrong! Just see if you can see different proportions before committing!

Do you mind telling me what the length is of your main stone and then what the length is of your traps? I would love to just get a starting point of the proportions I would need for mine stone.

I don't know the length of the traps, unfortunately! They mocked up the CAD and I just eyeballed it to approve! You just need to make sure it is right to your eye! The center stone is 2.58 and the traps are .75 ctw, and my finger is a 5.25!
