I'm in the market for a stone (various colors and materials and budget-basically if I love it I'll buy it) to go in my original wedding set. Not really looking for a blue sapphire as I already wear that as my new wedding set. Setting is a vintage fishtale prong setting. Anyone hoarding anything that they'd part with? Show me what ya got!IMG_1129.JPG

Can't help, but wondered what happened to the beautiful diamond in the original wedding set? It's delicious!

I sold it, I hadn't it listed here here for a long time with some interest but no buyers. It was a 1.64 N SI AVR :) I sold it for a song too backs to gog for only 6k :(

Off topic but your Sapphire ring is yummy! :lickout:

My little cognac sphene baby is only 6.5mm but I thought I'd throw it in the mix (with her trillion shape sis, I think it's a trillion).
:)

I have a Congo Tourmaline cut by Barry Bridgestock I would consider selling. It’s a 7.6mm round, 1.82ct, described by Barry as medium to medium/dark reddish-pinkish orange that is usually associated with Malaya Garnet. It is kind of like the color of a copper penny. The sun is down here, so I’m not getting a good photo. Let me know if it interest you.

I've got a super-pretty 7.5mm Tanzanite round ... thought I had photos on this computer but didn't find any ... if you're interested let me know and I'll find/take photos ... no worries if not the right stone for your project.

I'm not sure
It would fit properly, I'll have to ask my jeweler how small of a stone it can go down to. Figured id stick with the same measurements just to be safe as I don't have a ton of funds to do it multiple times. As it sits it'll be the third stone (had a not quite ideal cut H VVS1 it came with originally which I regret selling to fund the AVR)

Oh that sounds lovely! Please pictures and price! I'm not super familiar with the stone how hardy is it on the mohs? Depending on that I'm quite clumsy and I may be prone to chipping things. One of the reasons I got rid of such a large diamond to begin with I kept whacking it on everything including the washing machine agitator!

Sounds unique and beautiful! I'm particular about my reds and pinks but it sounds really special and unique so id love pics! I think it'd fit fine in the setting.

Thanks! Makes the pain of diamonds dull a bit. I love diamonds but they don't do it for me like a good colored stone. One day I'll stumble upon a unique good deal at an antique or pawn shop and readd a diamond back into my life but until then I'll stick with CS and YG lol!

Barry is an amazing cutter and the color of the tourmaline is quite unique and pretty. I’ll email you with images tomorrow through your Loupe Troop link in the other thread, and I’ll also drop you a note here to let you know they have been sent in case they go to your spam :).

Thank you. I'm not mobile and we are upgrading our router (and hubs has been taking the chord per my request anyway so I stay focused instead of online) so I'm not online during the day at all. Can't wait to see it! Hubby wanted red, I love orange and I just had a girl so maybe a three in one will work. I adore his stones too so fingers crossed it'll speak to me!

No problem :). It does shift depending on lighting. I just looked at it, and at night it is definitely leaning toward a coppery orange. I think I remember it going more reddish pink in natural light, but will see for sure tomorrow and will let you know. No pressure either way of course :). Good for you staying off the internet all day! I would get a lot more done if I could do that...

First day I attempted to post I got the router in with every other chord in the house. It's hard, recipes, play dates, even my small business but I seriously can't put my phone down (wifi only) and always have it for some 'reason' or another. Studies say it lights up the same regions of your brain as coke-not a lovely thought. Addicts are in my family (heroin, drinking) guess technology is just more acceptable but not less damaging, being internal and present is very difficult sometimes!

Sounds lovely can't wait to see it!

I just sent you a message through Loupe Troop =)2

Didn't come though, not even spam. I'll make a new listing with my email!

Got it, gotta show the hubs! Almost bed time and I'll be a ghost until tomorrow late evening. I'm it's very pretty and unique!

Think I'm leaning towards rich pinks, purples or a green stone. Or a blue that's not the same color as my sapphire. Maybe a bright orange but not really into pastels-needs to be deeply saturated. Thanks!

I have stones that fit the description but they are 7 mm. Is 7.5 mm very rigid for this setting? Many settings are flexible

Honestly I am not sure. I'm not huge into sets/resetting but its the fishtale prong setting I posted above. Think it would work?

I do think it would work quite easily. But you should check with your jeweler and also make sure they are equipped to set gemstones other than sapphires. I have a 7mm rich pink tourmaline Portuguese cut which is the kind of cut which has a lot of presence which I really feel would fit. I also have a 6.8 mm lighter pink one. I’d be happy to offer to you if you can confirm with your jeweler and your interest? Here’s a pic.

That is gorgeous!!! I sent him a message-he used to be on the bench for BIRKS canada so I'm confident he's able to do it if it can be done! What would that be priced at?

Jeweler says 7m is ok so if anyone has anything in that size let me know!
