I pulled the plug on this matched pair of Aquamarine drops that I had been eyeing at Ivy & Rose, 8.53cttw, each measuring 13.6 x 8.4mm (only 1 photo exists on their site):

I like my Aquamarines pale with a hint of green, and these look very nice to me.

They will be set as interchangeable earring drops to be worn with my existing tiny earth-mined diamond huggies, and these are the design inspirations that I have:

Here is a pic of the tiny huggies and the paved diamond drops (12 x 9mm) I had made to go with them, along with other drops such as pearls in different colours:

Should be fun to decide what to do with them once I have them in hand.

What fun! They will be lovely - the bezeled inspiration is a wowzer.:cool2: I wonder about the proportions of the halo setting - also do you know how deep the stones are? No matter what you choose, they will be stunning!

There is no indication of the depth of the stone.

My original idea was to be briolettes, however, they are not easy to find as Jeff W says he cannot cut briolettes.

Besides, briolettes without drill hole at the top are not easy to set.

Hence I opted for pears.

Very pretty! I really like this design. :kiss2: Congrats and enjoy!!

That is probably my second favourite.

My favourite at the moment is a dangle inside a halo dangle with one stone between the huggy and the halo dangle.

I dislike double halos, hence not too keen on the idea of 3 dangles one inside each other as in the pic of the single dangle earring. I may use that design with LGD pears as price wise they cost more than this pair of pear Aquamarines.

Those aqua pears are such a great size, that you can do just about anything with them. I look forward to seeing what you choose and the finished pieces!

Beautiful soft color.
Reminded me of this much less economical pair.

How much???!!! o_O

They do look very sparkly and come with a GIA certificate. Mine are not certified as far as I can remember, and the cut looks more like step cuts.

Hopefully, mine will be sufficiently sparkly for the price I paid, time will tell, and I shall take and post pics once I have them in hand.

Aquamarine prices have skyrocketed! I remember when I was little they were considered semiprecious.

They are still considered as semi-precious as far as I am aware.

True. I mean more like amethyst and topaz priced semiprecious. Not fancy sapphire semiprecious.

Alright who spilled the beans to the retailers that is was the same stone as emerald? :lol-2:

@demantoidz Stunning! At first I misread the price by a couple decimal places. :oops2:
Unfortunately/fortunately, I'll stick with aquas.

Looking forward to seeing the project finished @dk168, they’re going to be beautiful.

Haha, my sleep deprived brain just did a passing glance and thought that listing were aquas, and that price had a decimal a couple places in. I nearly had a heart attack when I went back and actually read the price. After an "are they out of their minds?!?!" I realized they were diamonds! I was wondering why they looked odd for aquas. :lol-2:

I did exactly the same late last night, and did not notice the price!

I thought the cut was very good to make them so sparkly!!!

Eh, no, unless I have won big money playing the lottery.

I hope to have a pair of drops made with LGD one day, probably not in drop shape as I already have the paved drops.

One thing for certain - they need to be small enough so that I could still wear my glasses with them for dressy evening events as I don't to wear big dangling earrings with glasses.

Sorry, I should have stated they were fancy colored diamonds. It was my overly complicated way of complimenting how attractive your aqua pair are. =)2

I do not follow trends, and have loved Aquamarines for a very long time. I had Jeff W cut an EC Aqua for me back in 2016, and shall finally get round to setting it next month (delayed from this month due to home maintenance in the form of fence replacement).

As mentioned before, I prefer mine pale with a hint of green, and the so-called Santa Maria materials do not float my boat.

DK =)2

OMG I cannot wait to see your finished earrings. Blue is my favorite color, aquamarine is so lovely, and pear drops are one of my favorite shapes. It's going to be gorgeous!

I myself (not by design) seem to be the anti trend
My rule (not always successful) is buy what i like
I seem to only like a trend 10 years after its out of date !
My teenage years were not easy (thank goodness for school uniforms) not helped by a very high end fashion conscious and highly critical younger sister :lol-2:
She always hated my shoes and my layering of chains

I do however love a greenish aquamarine

I write as a person who wear Crocs nearly all the time, even with waterproof socks in winter.

They are never, ever, considered as fashionable, and I don't care as they are very comfortable.

I have a few (6+) pairs waiting in the wings, built up whenever Crocs has a sale, as I do not wish to run out, ever!
