Precise size (by my calipers): 9.23mm
Pearls are natural white Hanadamas, purchased from Pearl Paradise in 2018. Erin (no longer at Pearl Paradise - but the name is probably familiar to many here!) preselected three pairs for me, and I had two of them shipped out to see in-person. This was the most lustrous pair available, and Erin called the overtone on this pair “the strongest naturally pink overtone I’ve ever seen”.
I will include:
The two pearls are not a perfect match: They have the same body colour, but one has slightly stronger pink overtone than the other. You can see this in the photos that I’ve posted. Finding another non-pinked pearl with such strong overtone in this precise size for a perfect match was… Well, let’s just say that I’d have been waiting a good long while Despite the lack of perfect overtone match, they are a “matched pair” by any reasonable definition, and of course they look identical on the ears with a face in between.
Different vendors have different definitions of “natural white”. Pearl Paradise’s natural whites have gone through maeshori, but have not been bleached, and have not been pinked (verified by Hisano). Many people don't consider maeshori a “treatment” in the traditional sense of the word - it’s an umbrella term for a variety of “pre-treatment” preparations that all akoya routinely go through that has no impact on gem value.
