I was actually trying to take a pic of the culet area which I recently noticed has what looks a crack that wasnt there before but was unsucessful and ended up taking pictures of the stone face up.

That ring is so incredibly gorgeous! I get fits of envy whenever I see it, so thanks for posting more pics! I think we both have smaller hands- my ring is currently a 3.75, but could go to a 3.5. Your stone looks really big on your fingers!

What a beautiful collage--like artwork! I have never seen a regent up close like that--I love it. What a beautiful stone. Hmmm, regent earrings???

PS did you try cleaning your ring really well? Maybe it's just dirt or lint on the bottom????

Must......touch.....the pretty!!!

Your stone is beautiful, tomatoe and you got some great shots of it. I'm jealous of your ability to make a collage. I have two picture programs and neither one seems to have the collage option.

I certainly hope that there is no crack on the culet!

What a ROCK!! I was blinded for a moment there. I still need to learn how to post pictures on this forum. Thanks for sharing your B-E-A-UTIFUL ring!

Jennifer: Thanks and Regent earrings sound really delicious!!!

I've tried cleaning the stone but it still shows me that crack line near the culet and I'm trying not to drive myself buggy thinking about it but it's really worrisome. What I dont understand is how did that area become cracked when it is in a setting and how come the girdle is not chipped???!!!

Patty: There is no specific collage option that I know of in the program I use, Photoshop. I manually edit each individual photo to the size I want then cut & paste them one by one side by side onto a new file. I can help you compile a collage if you wish, just email me the photos

i'm a little late, but tomatoe--it's gorgeous!

Thanks for the offer tomatoe but I really want to learn how to do a collage myself. I cannot get more than one photo on a page. I tried making a picture really small, then opened a new file and pasted the small photo into it. That worked but it would only take that one photo. When I tried another photo, it just replace the previous one.

Tomatoe, I suspect the "crack line" that you're seeing is the reflection of the girdle. I thought the same thing when I got my stone, and then read here that it's common to see that line about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way down from the table toward the culet. It looks like a crack, but it isn't. It's actually a reflection of the girdle.

No worries!

Oooh ~ I don’t know how I glossed over this one before . . . but I just have to say I think it’s beauteous! Glitter, glitter and more glitter!!

Reena- I have to say that with every thread I read I always do the quick scan from avatar to message so that I can see who is 'talking'. However, when I am scanning now and hit a message from you, I snort out loud with laghter, and then snort again, and then read your message. Then look back at generic lawyer with velters head and laugh out loud.

Thank you for providing the unexpected bits of laughter!

Al, I had that in mind but I never saw this line before until after I recently dropped it on my bathroom floor. [:

This is what I was trying to photograph and I finally managed to capture it with my husband holding the ring and magnifier. Any ideas??

Tomatoe,

Maybe you are looking at it with a much more critical eye since you dropped it. I cannot see how you could get a crack there and not see evidence of a crack where it may have made contact with your bathroom floor. Was there a feather in that area on your cert?

I am really inclined to go with Al on this one, it does look like the girdle reflection to me.

Have your jeweler or appraiser take a look at it to ease your mind.

Maybe one of the experts will chime in here!

PS You may want to search for the threads that Al was talking about, there were some great pics of the girdle reflection that really look similar to what you see in your pics above.

Tomatoe, here is a picture of three diamonds on their side. See the girdle reflection about 2/3 of the way down on each stone? Is that what you are seeing?

Here is another picture showing the girdle reflection.

Icelady, I am aware of the issue of girdle reflection and would love it to be the case but I have never seen this line before this in my stone which was what set off the alarm bells and not that I'd dropped it. I didnt even think anything of the drop at that time or scrutinise the stone. My stone is supposed to be a VVS2 with a small feather. I am looking around for an appraiser who can help tell me if it is really a crack.

Patty, thanks alot for the photos! I have seen threads before on this issue as well.

Tomatoe,

Where is the small feather located? I could not see it on my computer monitor when I viewed the GOG info.

It sure is a pretty stone!

Icelady, I really appreciate your replies. This is a scan of a photo of the feather from the appraisal report.

Tomatoe,

I would hate to think that the tiny VVS2 feather would expand like that. Did it originally break the surface anywhere?

I still think there is something else to this, especially since it does not show up in the face up position. Can you see it face up under magnification?

Best bet is definitely search out that expert and have them look at it. The waiting is excrutiating though!

Regardless, it is an absolutely beautiful stone.

Icelady, I am not sure if it broke the surface and I surely hope not! I don't know what magnification it was that I took those pictures in the first post under, but I cannot see anything. Thanks again for your replies, assurances and compliments! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed here.

Tomatoe,

My fingers and toes are crossed for you!
