What an interesting week it has been. On Monday V and I went into the city to look at settings. We stayed at Facets for about half an hour or so. They use iridium at their other alloy in their platinum mix. We looked at different width bands and what not, I realized the I do not like the Raphel setting in person, but like the shared prong one very much.
He is still bothered by the half eternity idea, so who knows what I will get. We agree that a band between 2-2.5 mm looked nice and was still comfortable for me to wear with another band of equal width. He offered to go to the Tiffany’s, Cartier and what not but I was not in the mood. Sacrilege I know!
Yesterday he decided we should make a quick trip to Good Old Gold, and who was I to argue. On the way there we listed to the GPS in the Acura and it took us right through NYC and through two tunnels, which I sat though with white knuckles and the like. I love being in the air, I am not a fan of the whole water issue. V was sweet though and let me listen to Cowboy Troy with out complaint, and I think he may even have enjoyed some of it.
Once we made it to GOG we were helped by a man named Charlie I think. He did not discuss cut with us at all. V kept looking at me as I have talked about how vital cut is for months and had said that the people at GOG really knew their stuff. He was there I think mostly to see different sizes on my hand, and what we thought looked best. I was also able to try on the Stuller knife edge platinum four prong setting and he thought that was pretty spiffy as well.
I am not sure if my preference is a solitaire or an eternity band shank. I have seen the eternity band on my hand as either an empty semi-mount (so sad!) or a true band. I have dropped a diamond about the size I will be getting into solitaire setting and it did look yummy!
I would be content with either and I am not sure that I even have a preference for one over the other. I am excited about the fact that it is coming soon, and starting to get nervous too.
