Great day at the "Millie Bush Memorial Dog Bark" in Houston today. This first picture is my daughter Sara holding Rocky and Ally Wags....who are very excited to enter the "Bark" and play! This is an awesome place in far West Houston, named for President Bush''s (the father, not the current) dog Millie. There is a separate area for the smaller dogs..! We had a ball...here''s a few pictures to share.

Judi,
Thanks for sharing those adorable pics of you dogs at the Millie Bush Dog Bark. Looks like they had a great time and your daughter is beautiful. We don't have any such doggie parks near us, looks like fun!!!

Thanks for the compliments on our "babies". They are oversized Yorkies! They are very spoiled, as you may have guessed. The dog parks are popping up everywhere....in every city. This one is the best we''ve ever seen. It is safe because it has a double fenced entry so the dogs cannot get out. Also, as I mentioned before, this one has a separate section for little dogs. There is a "people" drinking fountain with a low down fountain for the dogs. There are toys for them and "clean up bags" to keep the dog "bark" nice and clean. After they played (and rolled in the dirt) we took them to the shower stations and washed them before getting back in the car. They had a ball....right now they are exhausted and sleeping! Helps get rid of the guilt that we sometimes feel because they are home alone all week while we work. (I believe this was a subject of a previous thread).

judi,
That dog park looks amazing. we only have one around my town and it''s nice but i totallly love the "swimming pool." i have a lab who loves to swim but there isn''t really a good place to take her. It looks like your pups are having a great time. thanks for sharing. i hope more and more dog parks open up. it so great to have a place where they can run "safely" free when you don''t have a lot of land.

we have tons of dog parks around here but i dont think any of them have swimming pools, how fun that seems!! the ones around here are more the average fenced-in dirt area variety with not alot of ''fun'' additional stuff to do for the dogs but get dirty...

we find the park behind our house to be better than a dog park because it has grass, along with the ~50 or so other dog owners...i have no idea what we will do when we move away one day and P has a yard of her very own BUT no dogs to play with...

it''s funny because all of the dog owners here have such great well-behaved dogs, but non-dog owners around here hate that there are always dogs in the park...they complain that their kids can''t play and there are people who don''t pick up the poo, etc. so it''s a fine balance between the kid parents and dog parents around here!

We also have lots of dog parks in Houston, but this is by far the best! As you can see by the picture of the doggy swimming pool, the people all look ready to "jump in" as well. It was a hot and humid day on Sunday - the dogs loved the water. They even have a people drinking fountain with a little "low down" drinking fountain for the dogs....as you can see in this picture. Other citys should follow the example of the Millie Bush Dog Bark....it''s really fun for kids, dogs, and everyone!
