This thread marks my transition from I'm 100% sure I want to rehome to I'm not 100% sure I want to keep, therefore I will try to rehome. All of the pieces that I'm going to list here are... Important to me and valued in my collection, but some I never, ever reach for, others I have duplicates or variations of that I wear more.

All have stories - largely documented here on PS - that I'll give potted histories of and/or post links to.

Tahitian Multicolour bracelet from Pearl Paradise
LT: https://loupetroop.com/listings/other/contact-for-yssie;36836
I'm keeping this listing PS-only for now. Please email me at the addy in the listing above, and let me know what your PS handle is if I don't know you already ::)

In 2019 I bought a Tahitian multicolour bracelet from Hisano. This bracelet was composed of special-colour loose (earring grade) pearls - Hisano sent a pre-vetted lot out to me and I chose my favourites. Here's my PS thread:

In late 2020, I bought another Tahitian multicolour bracelet, from another vendor. Here's my PS thread on this newer bracelet:

After acquiring the newer bracelet, which is composed of "warm" pearls (greens, pinks), I decided to rework the Pearl Paradise bracelet into a "cooler" bracelet (blues and teals and purples). I had Pearl Paradise send out another special-colour lot and I replaced the yellow-greens with mints and purples. Trouble is, cooler tones don't look good on my skin at all. I knew this before I redid this bracelet, but... Hope springs eternal. I love the pearls themselves, but I'd be happy to see them go home with another PSer whom they better suit.

I wore this bracelet to work one day after having it strung last month, so I can't call the clasp and string "new", but... Certainly in "brand new" condition.

It will comfortably fit a 5.75-6.5" wrist.

All pearls have smooth, lustrous surfaces. No gotchas, caveats, or disclaimers here. There is slight luster variance between the pearls, but you aren't going to be picking any pearls out of the lineup as "better" or "worse" than the others unless that's what you're trying to do. These photos are true to character.

Okay. Let's talk blemishing. I'll add my usual disclaimer here - I'm always rough on blemishes because I can't stomach them; I feel very confident stating that no vendor would bother to highlight any of these.

There is one pearl that has one blemish that I call "eye-visible" - if you're looking for it you'll see it with your naked eyes, but you won't notice it when the piece is worn. This is photographed (through a loupe) top left. Another pearl has a couple of minor divots that you can see up very close, but that are absolutely not visible from any not-inspection viewing distance. A few of the pearls have what I've called "growth lines" - slight banding that you can see if it catches the light, but again, isn't visible from any not-inspection viewing distance and doesn't impact appearance or appreciation of the pearl in any practical way.

Pricing:

This bracelet contains
- Six AAA loose specialty-colour 11-12mm pearls from Pearl Paradise (purchased in 2019, $320 per pearl)
- Five AAA loose specialty-colour 10-11mm pearls from Pearl Paradise (purchased in 2019, $245 per pearl)
- Three AAA loose specialty-colour 10-11mm pearls from Pearl Paradise (purchased in 2020, $310 per pearl)
- One 10-11mm pearl from Andrew Moline (purchased in 2020, significantly more expensive than Pearl Paradise but we'll call it $310 for purposes of this pricing calculation)
- One 10mm brushed 14k WG ball clasp from Pearl Paradise (purchased January 2021, $100)
Totalling $4485 before stringing, tax, shipping, etc.

I want to recoup $3610, which is more than 20% off my own out of pocket. I have included one comparison collage - the bracelet for sale here is denoted with arrows. The other bracelet in the photos is a truly once in a lifetime piece - the Pearl Paradise bracelet is, in my opinion, 80% "as good as" that other one, but cost me 7x less (and is listed here at 9x less). My opinion again - the Pearl Paradise bracelet is nicer than anything I've seen retail at this pricepoint.

My price is firm. Buyer pays PayPal fees. US only, and I'll cover shipping.

Champagne South Sea Earrings from Andrew Moline

Purchased April 2020 from Andrew. I had the pearls shipped out #JustToTakeALookAt - and surprise surprise, they stayed.

This is a gem quality South Sea pair - one is 11.98mm by my calipers and the other is11.93mm. They're a really pretty champagne colour, with gorgeous lustre (especially for SSs!!), unusually strong pink overtone, and surfaces that are completely smooth and unblemished.

Mounted on 18k yellow gold earhooks (18-gauge wire). I liked the contrast of rich 18k YG with the lighter coloured pearls.

I've literally never worn them except to take a couple of quick photos one afternoon. Turns out I love pearls on the wrists but never reach for anything but white studs for the ears.

This photo was taken inside the lightbox. One pearl has slightly stronger pink overtone than the other; this difference is obviated outside this lighting environment.

This photo was taken outside the lightbox, in a room with white walls, beside a window on a sunny day. The white pearls are gem quality akoya, and the various yellows are shades of gold south sea.

Pricing:

I paid $1315 for the loose pearls. I want to recoup $1215 for the finished earrings.

That bracelet - is both nowhere near my size or budget, but a girl can dream! Gorgeous. Some lucky lady is about to have a once in a lifetime piece! Oh and of course - cool tones look marvelous on me muahahah

Good! I told myself I was gonna go to bed and if they were still there if I woke up, it was meant to be.

Congrats to the new owner! They're beautiful!

I forgot to say - I do normally zero dollar amounts out on larger purchases in LT (I was asked to do so a few times for privacy, so now I just do that by default a few weeks after sale). I will do the same here and ask the moderators to remove pricing details from this thread after sale is finalized.

Golden South Sea bracelet from Hisano (Pearl Paradise, Little H Jewelry)

Late in 2019 I asked Hisano about sourcing a GSS lineup. She told me it might take a while to find what I wanted - a few months later she told me that she'd found "them", and sent me this photo, and I immediately gave her a "YES!!". Fifteen AAA loose earring-grade GSSs in a 10-12mm graduation.

1612464964217.png

They are beautiful, beautiful, beautiful... They aren't perfect, but they're beautiful. How are they not perfect? Luster is very very good, but it isn't tippy tippy tippy top. Matching is very good but the pearls aren't identical. My PS thread has a few photos, but this one - Hisano's original lineup picture - IMO translates most accurately across various lighting environments. Gold/orange/bronze is such a shifty colour, in faceted gemstones and in pearls!

At the time - mid 2020 - I wasn't looking for perfect in my pearls. Nonetheless, for one reason or another, I rarely wore this bracelet, so the pearls are in pristine condition. Here's a video from Pearl Paradise's IG:

Sometime between middle of 2020 and early 2021 - I became a raving lunatic. I've realized that when it comes to pearls - I can't compromise. At all.
I want an objective perfect: Mirror luster, my ideal body colour - identical across all the pearls, identical overtone colour and strength across all the pearls, superb saturation... And I am actually willing to pay for perfect in all of my pearls, 80/20 cliches be damned, and if perfect by my estimation isn't achievable, then I'd rather go without than buy (or keep) "realistic but not quite everything that I want". I've sent Andrew Moline on a quest to find my unicorn GSS strand, and he's explicitly told me that the colour, quality, and degree of matching that I'm looking for probably just isn't doable, because even his suppliers' back-ends would consider the differences that I'm objecting to indiscernible, but he's offered to try.

So how good is "almost perfect", really? This Pearl Paradise bracelet was sent to Japan so that his suppliers (incidentally - the same folks who put my Tahitian lineup together) could see it in-person and better understand what I liked and what I wanted to improve, and this is what they had to say:

1612468798621.png

So here I am - a lunatic who isn't completely happy with something that 99% of people would be ecstatic with, and who would rather go without entirely (a very plausible outcome) if perfect isn't achievable in the real world. I'll go ahead and tune my tiny violin

Since I don't have any other similar GSSs to compare quality to the way I normally would, I'll post the photos of one potential lineup that I received from Andrew. I don't have any of these pearls in hand right now - they're on their way out from Japan! So I don't have any personal commentary yet. Should have them in a few days. Bracelet for sale is in front in both photos.

For pricing reference, the loose lineup from Andrew in the photos above is over $30000.

I replaced that original 10mm 14k YG ball clasp from the email with a filigree 18k YG ball clasp from Etsy. This is the one in the photos.

The pearls are in like new condition. I am looking to recoup 20% off $8590 - $6900. Since this is a high-value purchase, I am happy to
1) Pay for restring including either filigree clasp or original matte ball clasp,
2) Cover all shipping expenses,
3) Accept a three day no-questions return (buyer will pay return shipping and I will deduct outbound shipping from my refund).

My price is firm. US only. Buyer pays PayPal fees. Alternatively, I'm happy to accept a bank cheque (I will not accept a personal cheque) and will mail after successful deposit.

Since I've received a few inquiries I figured I'd post here - I'm not opposed to breaking the GSS bracelet up and selling by the pearl, but I'd like to hold off on doing that until either noone wants the full bracelet, or enough people express interest that I'm confident I won't be left with a bracelet that's a couple of pearls short of whole - whichever happens first

If you'd like just a few pearls please do reach out, as I'm keeping a tally!! I'll update here if there are enough folks who want individuals to break it up ::)

The Tahitian bracelet - I do want that to go as a full bracelet, so I'm not looking to split pearls out of that one. Not that anyone's asked about this, but hey, since we're on the subject. :))

I don’t know if cool tones look good on me or not but who cares, the Tahitians will still look good even if I don’t!

I really need time share jewelry to be a thing...

:appl:

The GSSP bracelets are out of this world beautiful! I don't think I've ever seen such a beautiful set of pearls with that dark golden color and uniformity. Why can't I just win the lottery??? Whoever buys any of the pearls you posted are getting some very nice pearls.

That Tahitian pearl bracelet is so gorgeous. :kiss2:

Back at the other house and dug out the Pearl Paradise appraisal for the GSS bracelet. Appraisal dollar values are very inflated, as always!

Origin of this lineup is Philippines - where the nicest and most valuable GSSs always come from ::)

They aren't, but they might be. That's a new lineup that's coming out to me to look at :))

Yeah - they look like the shiznit to me. Will be interested to see what you think of these ones.

I'm interested too.

My understanding from talking with Andrew about this - if I don't like the colour, body or overtone, that's something that could be fixed (put together a new lineup). But if I'm not satisfied with the degree of match, either body or overtone, then my ask is probably unrealistic and impossible to fulfill. Imperfect matching was my primary objection to the Pearl Paradise strand, and you can see how not-poorly-matched those pearls are. And you can also see that the new lineup has some colour variance as well. It's difficult to judge degree from photos, of course, so I'm really looking forward to seeing them in-person, but my honest guess is that they won't be close enough for me. But we'll see!

I can’t wait for the new GSS line up and hear your thoughts!

Sent you an email.

@yssie sorry but I’m having trouble accessing my email account. It gets filled with *spam* emails (like it replicates each in message 3 times) and then exceeds the limits and won’t let me log in. Have to get help from the help desk to delete off the excess emails. Bear with me :confused2:

No worries at all! I just emailed a few minutes ago so you’ve not missed anything! I just wasn’t sure if that’s an inbox that you check - I know I’m not regular about my own LT email unless I’m actively buying or selling ::)

Just a heads up here. I do have a number of people who have contacted me about buying individual GSS pearls, but I really would prefer to sell as a set - I want these lovelies to go with all their siblings if possible!! ::) So I’m going to sit on this for a couple more weeks.

The body colour of the souffle pearls doesn't match exactly. You can see this in the photos in the thread linked below - one has cooler tone than the other. The difference is visible side by side but fades on the ears, of course. This is the sort of thing that would bug the daylights out of me if it was "a normal pair of earrings", but in these I've genuinely never minded it... I suppose I just write it off as a quirk of the brand. Honestly, for Hisano's earrings this isn't uncommon.

All Hisano's stones are recycled. She described her process to me once: Buying old, decrepit jewellery by the lot, sorting out the stones that she wants, and hammering them into chips  These earrings have 14k YG hooks with a brushed finish. The two earrings weigh 7.5g total - use BlingDots!! https://www.amazon.com/BlingGuard-BlingDots-Earring-Supports-Stabilizers/dp/B00B5ASQZ0
