a few questions about rolling rings.

Glad you started this thread :)) I plan on getting the Cartier ring for my wedding anniversary in August. I've been looking at them on ebay as well & have decided to get a new one. I want the whole shopping experience. I'm still not sure which version to get so I'm really looking forward to a visit to Cartier, I live in the Chicago area so I'll be able to go there. We wear the same size so if you get yours soon post which size you got. And lots of pictures :naughty:

N - the Cartier pave ones roll like butter. The way they are set they don't rub at all. They also cost an arm and a leg. But as long as you'll have a finger to wear it, right? :)

Im not a brand girl exactly but theres a few reasons I want this.
Its so iconic i feel like I have to get the original, even though its weird, if i was getting a tiffany solitaire, i wouldnt need the original. Probably because i know its maybe the first but not necessarily the best, but for this i feel like it is.
Also lately ive been getting all sentimental, i keep wanting to have really nice quality things to pass down to my baby girl, i know, looooong ways away, but I dont know the idea of "this was my moms/grandmas Cartier" just seems nice to me, even if its not a million dollar piece or something.
Im so flip floppy on my e ring i want something I can look down at all the time and say "boom! love it" and not have any second thoughts.
I totally agree with this. And it makes a lovely pendant too if she ends up not being your same ring size. And Cartier will engrave it for free so you could put your name inside the yellow gold, hubby's on the white and DD on the rose gold. That would be so special and she'd love taking off your ring to peek at her name in a few years. Makes me misty eyed!

I was about to say the same to you Haha. I was thinking the smallest one, but after LS's post that one looks a twinge tiny to wear solo,so now I'm going with the middle grade. Im thinking I'll just order the 55 I thiiiiiiiink because a 7.25 seems to fit my RH ring finger perfectly. But from everyone's post I still can't tell if that means I have to go up a size or not

Cute idea! I was trying to think of something to engrave on the inside, I can't decide if it should have my fi and my name, but I'm thinking st least her first and middle name. I love her name I picked out for here, I'd like to see it for as long as possible

Ahhhhh...... ;( I hate threads like this, 'cause I WANT ONE SO BADLY!!!!! And DH did not take my not so hidden hint ("honey I am wanting to buy a Cartier rolling ring" I said to him; silly boy, mama ain't happy :angryfire: ) Ok...now that I'm done whining: I'm a 7.5 size and the 56 is perfect for me, I tried on the 57 and it was a tad too big. My plans are similar to yours, but mine is to represent my 3 kids, oldest will be engraved on the WG, middle on the RG, and youngest on the YG band.

I personally like the branding, idk why, but I want it to say Cartier on the outside bands. I'm torn like you, I'm fine w/buying preloved, but not at $1000+, for that price I'll just keep saving.

:D I tried to convince hubby of push presents for my large babies (9lb; 9lb 9oz; and 9lb 5oz), hubby just laughed and said the baby was the present  I'd like to see him try....

Oh goodness then you feel me. Yeah she's our first and she was 9 6oz but it was the 99 percentile head circumference that got me.

Oh well. Hes a doll, and at least he knows now he dropped the ball so hes more than ok with this lovely. Next baby though, he better be holding a receiving blanket in one hand and diamonds in the other!

Here are some photos of my rolling ring. It is a size 50 and I usually wear a size 5. It is the 2.9 mm thick size. Hope the pictures are ok. This is the first time I have tired to take any pictures of my jewelry and it's night time.

This first one is of the Cartier signature on the rose gold band.

Here is a handshot. The logo is really not prominent at all when you are wearing it.

This one is a comparison shot with my wedding band on my pinkie. It is a little under 2mm.

This is the best pic I could get of the patina. I haven't cleaned/polished it since I got it.

Let me know if there is something else you want to see.

Oh I love that!! And you are right that branding is hardly noticeable. So I guess I'm confused. I thought LS was the smallest one but then is yours the smallest one that's on the website? It looks a lot thicker. Bah I am going to have to go to Cartier aren't I. I dont wanna wait that long though, I probably couldn't go until may.

Tell them it is your anniversary! Most stores have policeys if you are buying gifts for birthdays or anniversarys they will open a bottle of their Cartier branded champagne for you. So much fun!

Thought I'd add a photo of my 4mm vintage Cartier. (Logo on the inside.) I've had it for probably 7-8 years and never polished.
I think I don't stack it because I like to play with it on my finger. I'm a US 7, and this is a 55.

Mine is the smallest, but I'm not sure if it's still made/sold anymore. I don't know if they have it in the store, but just not online.

They have it in the store but not online for some reason. I hope they're not discontinuing it!

I think I like the onefiftys proportions best. Is that then the smallest one that's one the website?

I'm think going to start a SMTB about this...

Yes, mine is the smallest one online, but not in the store. Also, I have smaller hands and short fingers. The classic size went knuckle to knuckle on me.

I think this is one that you really want to try on for sure. I saw the smaller one and it didn't look right on my hands. Proportionally the classic looked better on me, it looked like OneFifty's version, but because I'm a 56 and have longer fingers, the skinny one looks crazy. But then I could wear the thick one, but I'm planning on stacking... ;)

Maybe make a special trip earlier? When I was at Cartier (ours is a 2hr drive), I asked about the engraving and they said it takes like 2 weeks... :( So keep that in mind when you are planning a trip.

So here's the thing...if I were to ever buy a rolling ring for myself I would buy myself Cartier because I think I would enjoy going to the store, picking it out, and getting the warm fuzzies. However, if you decide to go non branded, I bought my mom the 3mm tri color one from http://www.rollingring.com/ I had a wonderful experience with their customer service. It is a lovely quality and my mom loves it. Cartier would mean nothing to her. I had it engraved for her with my mom, dad's, brother's, and my name. They recommend to order your normal ring size which is what we did. She treasures it! Good luck!!! Please post lots of pics of whatever you end up with.

Thanks Sarahbear :wavey: DH & I would love some Cartier champagne! We'll be sure to mention that. How fun

OneFifty-thank you for posting all those yummy pictures of your ring :lickout: It looks so classic on you! Makes me want one even more :naughty:

so from what some of you are saying, you seem to be buying .25 larger than your size. I cant remember whos you guys were but
size 7 you got a 55 ( cartier website claims 55 to be a 7.25)
size 7.25 you say usually go with 56 for anything other than the suuuuper smallest (right) (cartier says 56 is a 7.5)
size 5 you got a 50 ( cartier claims thats a 5.25)

does that seem about right?

just for anyone with the same questions. I wear a 7.25 i went one size up which in cartier terms is a 56. it fits perfect, but also fits my middle finger. Tighter than i would want, but could be done. So i think i could have gotten away with an actual size, but you want the thing to roll, and so if anyone is wondering, i would recommend one size up from your normal.
:D

EAT FAST!!!

Hard to get photos at night all our lights are soft glow, but what do you guys think? Is it real? What size is it. The individual bands are either 2mm or just above. I can't tell if I got a fair deal on the 750$ one or a great deal on the 1000 one. img_3339.jpgimg_3347.jpg

Looks nice!!!!!!

Pretty! I'm going to have to go back and see if that deal I found is still around. Still not sure about sizing though - the one I found was in my current ring size, which could be iffy.
