We were able to acquire five small rubies very inexpensively at an auction last December. Each stone came with a GIA cert stating heated Thai, and total weight was 3.27tcw.
DW thought the rubies were on the pink side and we decided to put them at the back of the setting queue. With the ringdant project complete, it was time for the rubies, so we gave Amy the go ahead. In the meantime we had already figured the rubies were a perfect size for a five stone ring, and had our inspiration ready to go. Two CADs and three weeks later our new ring was finished! Not quite a record, but it sure was a pleasure to have a project go without a hitch. DKJ did a great job, and to our surprise the rubies look much more red when set. First the video:
