I have been looking around for the right diamond and trying to figure out what I want for a setting. I'd been focusing on CBI but browsing around for ideas since I was going between half a dozen completely different thoughts. My grandma mentioned how much she misses wearing her wedding rings so I get her to show them to me. Through 59 years of marriage, she had worn the gold so thin it cracked. I convinced her to let me take them as I knew my local jeweler could do a very good job on them. I was taljita with him about the needed repairs and was about to leave when I mentioned that I was looking. He said he had something he is sure I will like that just got traded in for an upgrade. Okay, I always love looking at sparklies. Well, I bought it!

He was still waiting for the GIA cert to come in from the previous owner, but knew the specs since he got the diamond and worked with her creating the setting. If I remember correctly, he said 1.1ct ideal cut IF and H color. I don't remember the details of surrounding stones.

Pictures aren't the greatest as I just have my phone camera. Will try to add more as I get some of the details.

Very pretty! Enjoy wearing it.

How fun to come upon a nice find while having your grandma’s rings repaired! It’s beautiful and looks lovely on your hand. Is it a cushion cut stone?

And definitely post more pics when you can!

Beautiful! And please post pictures of your grandmothers rings when you have collected them!

Round! It definitely looks like cushion at times. I had never seen a round with square halo!

My rose gold bands are in! Even more exciting is my grandma's ring is ready!

Her shank was broken in two places with the gold worn thin after decades of wear. What gold there was left was super dull and lifeless. Her prongs were so worn away that it is a miracle she didn't lose diamonds. My jeweler cut out half the band and completely replaced it. I'm pretty sure he added some up the sides too. All new prongs. Polished to a stunning finish.

The finished result is spectacular. My pictures really don't do it justice.

They will be celebrating 59 years of marriage in just two weeks. We are taking them out for a nice dinner with the whole family then Grandpa will give it to her. She knows I have it for repair, but doesn't know when she will be getting it back.
