After an afternoon of reception site scouting with my dad, I think we have a winner. But their event planner was AWOL so I have to go back and talk to her on Monday. It''s pricier than I thought it would be, but worth it? So we''ll seeee... !

Another nice bonus is that I found out that a man who used to mentor me back in my DJ''ing days is still working as a DJ at a prominent local nightclub. If I book this place, I''m going to see if he''ll spin at the party. It SURE won''t be a typical wedding DJ (no "songs" or "requests") but he is a local celebrity (among the club going crowd) and very good with ambient jazzy and funky stuff and would totally get that he has to keep it down while we dine. I remember him really fondly and I bet he remembers me just as fondly. So I bet he''d do it, even though it''s a wedding! I hope he''d be within budget though....

They clear out the lounge area here in front of the fireplace to make a dance floor. And they put tonnes of candles in the fireplace.

The tables are on the split level up about 3 stairs. It''s all housed in a verrrrrry old building with incredibly high ceilings. Plus the food is magnificent.

Hi Indy,

I haven''t been able to check PS in a few days so I may have missed something. Have you switched reception sites? You were looking at a place that was multi-level, right? The new place that you just posted looks beautiful!

Hi Zoe! We went by to have a look at the place I was originally thinking of and decided that it just was NOT a good layout for a wedding. This place is owned by the same woman and is, frankly, even funkier looking, with equally great food. Plus they have wedddings there semi-regularly so the staff will better know what they're doing.

This place is split level, but you can see everywhere from everywhere, so it feels like a single, unified space.

I can't wait to meet with the event coordinator and see if it's a go. I'm actually SUPER excited about it!

The pictures of the place look magnificent, Indy!

It looks like it will go beautifully with your stunning silver gown!

Hooray for you!
